I have a 2016 C7 manual. I have not drivin a manuel since my early 20s so i know things have changed. While driving one day in sports mode, as I was about to shift into 2nd gear, I saw two light appear on my HUD. As I was about to shift in 3rd gear the two lights appeared, the same thing happened in 4th.
After talking to a buddy who tracks his car, I now believe these are shift point or shift lights that assist in shifting at the best time. The problem is the lights don't always come on. I still have the mode in sports but again the light sporadically comes on and I can't figure how to make them work all the time. Can anyone tell me how to make these lights work?
If the HUD is in Track Mode, which can be independent of drive mode, a series of shift lights will converge as you approach redline. The most important thing is that your HUD has to be in Track Mode I believe.

On earlier generation Vettes, if you got up to a certain RPM, the shift light came on. Here's what the 2015 Owner's Manual states:
Shift Light. This light is used for performance driving to indicate that the vehicle's best performance level has been reached to shift the transmission into the next higher gear. An arrow pointing up will light up on the display just prior to reaching the engine fuel cut-off mode.
Get on it harder, they'll come on. Shift when the lights meet in the center and flash blue. Also, find an open (or better, closed) road if you're doing it in 2nd

Ok, great advise. I am no where near redline before I shift. I am not really hitting it hard. I will check out the track mod. Thanks for the information.

Also, I noticed mine for the first time because I think the lights come on at a lower RPM if the engine is not warmed up...
If the engine is up to operating temperature, as mentioned, you have to be running it harder before you see them.
The shift lights are not just in the HUD. They also appear at the top of the display on the dash.
I have occasionally seen a message on the HUD to up shift for better fuel economy, while still in first gear. The message is only up for a few moments, not really long enough to read it all. I wanted to check the manual, haven't yet!
