Bought back for "engine overheating..."
I would say it was bought back for buyer's remorse or couldn't make the payments. It looks like the original owner had some fun with the car. The tires are cooked at 3500 miles. http://www.laveryauto.com/VehicleDet...-OH/2642369343

Sport Cup 2 tires, that's about normal. $2200 for 4k miles.
I found interesting that the car fax is clean- no lemon shows up
Anything entered into a database that carfax would catch is voluntary. Carfax gleans data from things like insurance companies or law enforcement data bases. Nothing compels GM to list the car as bought back because of an issue, I'm not even sure what data base you'd enter that into.

Isn't it usually a repo when someone can't make payment? Buyback indicates there was an issue with the car and GM had to buy it back.
So if you buy one, drive it for a couple years and then trade it, do you have to disclose the buyback? If it's not on the Carfax, does the buyback show up in the GMVIS? Not that I wold buy one. Just curious.

It's only a buyback if there was something wrong with it causing GM to take it back. If the owner just sells it or trades it in that's not a "buyback". That's just normal business.
Also, a repossession is not a buyback either. A repo isn't being done because of anything to do with the car. Its being done because the buyer couldn't (or just didn't pay). That said, if the guy couldn't keep up with the payments he probably couldn't keep up with maintaining it either...but that's a separate issue. A repo or a trade in is just another used car, not a buyback.
I will add.......... this dealer is not too far from me. He has a pretty good reputation and I know of several folks who have bought recycled cars from him and never had an issue. One friend just picked up a C7 that had a defective air bag system.
Not sure the prices are reasonable based on market but every buyer makes their decision.

with a 5 year 100 k mile warranty and the common sense to find a dealer with a good service department that knows corvettes so you can work with him, there doesn't seem to me to be much risk.
I bought A 1997 Plymouth neon.I had talked to the previous owner. He couldn't keep it running.I bought it from A dealer who bought it at auction. It needed A computer. It had
34,000 miles when I got it.I put around 80,000 on it.
The point is I believe GM fixes many of the problems before it goes to auction.

I know he sells other GM buyback cars too. A friend bought a camero off them because the vert had a leak and they recycled it. Friend never had an issue with it.
Just a little cut and paste type by the sales staff.

I am not sure why you continuously disparage GM in your posts.
It is my understanding when GM buys a vehicle back through a dealership, the vehicles are inspected carefully, repairs completed then sold via the auto auctions.
On the auto auction websites, the vehicle is "fully disclosed" that the vehicle being sold is a GM buyback. They hide nothing to the potential purchaser at the auction. There is "full disclosure", including the problems or the repairs that have been made and an estimated cost of the repair made.
It is hard to understand why you claim "More Junk from GM".
These auctions are "Dealers Only" sales, not to any individual consumer. So in reality the vehicle also goes through a dealer inspection.
I have attached a PDF of a recent GM Buyback sold at auction....2014 Corvette C7 $53,000. The listing clearly disseminates that the vehicle auctioned off is GM Buyback.
