Default C7 Tires

I always knew that the Z51's had summer tires. But, after looking at a C7 Stingray, which had summer tires, the dealer said all C7's come with summer tires. I have a C6 coupe and I live in an area that gets cold. I use my C6 all the time. I would be reluctant to by a car that I could not use in the winter. Is it true that ALL C7's only have summer tires??

Yes it's true. It's also true that you can change them for the winter or throw away a whole bunch of performance capability and buy some all(no)-seasons.

C6 cars also came with summer tires, but they were made by G/Y. (I had one, that is how I know)

I disagree. For many C7 owners switching to a high quality AS tire will not result in a meaningful degradation in performance since most drivers are not driving in conditions appraching the limits of all season tires. HPDE are another matter.

Must admit living in SC I love the "summer only" tires they grip like glue. If below 40F wait for them to warm up before using full throttle! If 25 to 35 F (as cold as it usually gets here) just be careful.
You don't say where you live but 30 years ago when I lived up North (NJ, OH, CT) I always had another set of wheels and "snow tires." Depends on where you are but there a number of winter only tires and all-seasons as well. But it's a powerful rear engine sports car so if you really want to drive on light snow and will encounter some ice get a quality winter tire.

You're doing it wrong.

Thanks for the input. I live on Long Island, NY, so it does get cold in the winter. Believe me, I would never take my C6 out in snowy conditions. I had a 66 427 and learned the hard way.

It is a shame that Chevy does not offer an all season tire and you have to go after market. This is not a $20k car where buying additional tires is not big deal.

I understand you do not get great mileage with the summer tire. So when they need to be replaced, just go to an AS tire.

What do you consider great mileage? They last a long longer than the tires on my last two cars and they grip much better. Win-win.
