Good morning,
This may sound like a silly question - so I apologize in advance for my naivety.....
I pulled the 41 fuse from my C7 for the consistent tone. But recently noticed after a drive that only the outer 2 tubes of my exhaust were hot, while the inner 2 tubes were cold.
*Are the inner tubes separate from the outer tubes?
*Are the 4 tubes paired up (1 inner + 1 outer)?
*Is there any time when all 4 tubes should be hot/used?
*What combination of 'tube' usage gives me the best 'rumble' or sound quality from my factory exhaust - and how do I get that?
If I understand it correctly, the two outer tubes are wide open after you disconnected fuse 41, and all (or at least most) of the exhaust exits through them!
PS, It's not a dumb question, but I wouldn't be surprised if you don't wind up with a lot of dumb answers to it!

Thanks MeanDean - If I interpret your response correctly - max sound performance occurs when all of the exhaust is being pushed through only 2 tubes (outer) and not all 4 tubes.
So the next logical question is - what are the 2 inner tubes for? When do they get accessed and why?

Just the opposite… Look down the pipes ....you can see the two valves that open and close , when they're open it's the full loudest sound you can get when you're closed, it's the tour quiet mode.
The exhaust path to the outer tubes is less restricted (muffled) than the inner tubes.
The outer tubes have valves in them. When the valves are closed, the outer tubes do not get used and all of the exhaust is forced through the full muffler and out the inner tubes as quiet exhaust.
When the valves are open, most of the exhaust naturally exits through the outer tubes as the less restricted (less muffled), louder path, though the inner tubes remain open all of the time.

Sorry for the early dumb question

This configuration causing the exhaust to take the path of least resistance. The mufflers are built to Muffle the inner two pipes and to allow unmuffled exhaust on the outer two pipes when the valves are open. In pulling #41 you have direct the valves to be opened at all time which in turn has created this condition.
Thanks all - So in summary - I pulled the 41 fuse to keep the outer valves open all of the time to ensure a throaty sound all of the time. Even, though the outer valves are now open, the inner tubes (no valves) still 'leak' exhaust - but the majority of exhaust output are through the outer tubes. Must be Sunday....
