Default Powder coating wheels question

What did you do with your car while the wheels were off at the powder coaters? Stored on lift? Jack stands? I've research how to jack the car and the designated lifting points. I'm not keen on storing it for a week on front and rear jack stands. I don't have access to loaner wheels. I appreciate your input.

What do you see wrong with jackstands for a week? I really don't see any. If you're using the pucks in the proper places. Maybe two more , one for the rear and front end crossmembers.

Ok maybe the real question is where are the correct points for placing jacks? Maybe I am confusing jacking points with places to put your jack stands? The above pics are the only ones I've seen of someone using the a arms. Just trying to be careful and not break the plastic car.

Btw is this the same glen e from THT? If so I enjoyed your input over there also.

Same Glen from THT. You have a few cross overs here, me being one of them.

That's my question as well. I see where Jake has his, however I'm curious to see where others have placed their stands.

You need all the pads clear so you lift from the front and the rear crossmember's with a low profile Jack. Then insert your jack stands.

No pics but I just had my rears off to have new tires mounted (didn't want them trying to jack my C7 at the tire shop). I placed a couple of 4x4's and a couple of 2x10x10's on those under the jacking pads at the rockers and the car was very happy sitting like that. NBD. I've done the same to my C5 for weeks at a time with no issues. I've also used jackstands under the subframes for weeks at a time during major projects with no ill effects.

Other methods I've used

Had mine on stands for several days while I painted my calipers.

I had mine done and it was a one day turn around. I don't think a week will make a difference. I placed mine on jack stands. If you get a couple jack pucks. When you jack from the side, the car is so stiff it will raise the whole car. As everyone has posted great pics here to show you jacking the car. Personally I would not put jack stands on the control arms. They are hollow and can form stress fractures in the inside that you cant see. If they brake on the road later. You know what will happen. Not to mention if they happen to bend a bit....then you are wondering why your tires are wearing bad and cant align car. Not saying that It will happen....but it can. Seems people on the forum are having success with it. I'm not rolling the dice on that one. Your choice.

Just use the jacks in the recommended positions in the middle of the car is what I did. No issues. Car is sturdy and wont move. I jacked the car up just like c7 jake showed everyone from the side. Great photos and let me know it could be done. Then I slide the jacks under the car to the recommended position and repeated on the other side. Pretty easy.

Good Luck.

Question: Can you simply take your factory originals and have them powder coated? Cost?

Thanks for the plug Glen!

To the OP: Why don't you just leave your car at the powdercoaters and let them hassle with taking the wheels off and on?
