Dealer just called me back. Told me the coupe I want has everything I want except magnetic ride control. I have had the idea that it makes the Z51 a smoother riding car at any speed. He says it is intended as a track feature and as such is not that noticeable at normal driving speed. This Corvette may see a few straight-line drags but never a track. He can order one with the mag control because he has the allotment right now but I will be stuck waiting on GM to get past the roof constraint. Do group members think that the mag ride control is worth the wait or, given the description of my driving, think its worth giving up for now and not waiting on GM.

When I ordered mine my thought was I want the car to be 100% what I wanted not what options a dealer ordered. I found a lot of the cars in the lots had stuff added to bring the cost up and not necessarily what I wanted. So I bit the bullet and ordered it. Most larger dealers shouldn't have an issue with the painted roof. The dealer I used in Northern California had no problem getting the car with a painted roof through. It was accepted right away. Ordered 10/3 and has a TPW of next week. Question is do you have the patience or do you want it now minus a few things you may have wanted.

IMHO, the GM Mag Shock system is one of the most amazing technologies available... to buy a $60K+ car and not spend the extra $1700 is short-sighted...
Remember... the salesman is selling the car not driving it.
Buy what you like, but I'd go with the mag shocks if it were me.
Mag ride on a Z51 is a must have in my opinion. It smooths out the bumps in Tour Setting. Will the car be a disaster without it? NO, but if you are going to order a car to your specs, don't look back after you have it and wish you waited. The forum dealers have these cars in stock and can also order it for you without waiting.
It will also add resale value as most informed corvette buyers will want this option on their Z51 equipped car. You don't want a car that is "optioned wrong". Your salesman is incorrect in his descripton.
I have the mag ride on a non-Z51 2LT. Well worth it in my opinion...and the wait shouldn't be too long if your dealer has sufficient allocation. Check out my sig for my timeline

I ordered a 2lt non z51 w/ mag...so the mag ride was a good decision huh?

If your heart is set on a Z51, add the magride it will help smooth out the Z51's stiffer springs. But if you are never going to track the car, and only going to do a few straight line drags, you might want to consider a non-Z51 (base model) with magride. Ride will be even smoother than a magride Z51 (softer springs) and will still handle nicely. Save a few $$, also.
Do you need a mag ride equipped Z51? No, but track mode does give the car a very focused feel, beyond sport mode which is similar to a non-mag Z51. Also, it is nice having tour mode when you want it. Will you still enjoy a non-mag car? Sure. But, after the honeymoon period is over, you may have some regret.
Last C6 was a Z51 w/o mag ride, the new 2016 has (I ordered the car) mag ride. IMO mag ride is well worth the money. Very impressive technology, maybe not a "must have" but pretty close.
I don't know why dealers keep spreading that "track only" BS about the MRC suspension. It does allow you to stiffen up the suspension on the track, but its biggest benefit is the better control and response the infinitely adjustable shocks give the suspension in day to day driving. It makes my Z06 useable as a daily driver. It will do the same for a Z51.
I have had it on my 02...08 and now my 2016 GET IT and don't look back. It makes a difference and well worth the extra money....ESPECIALLY on the Z51!!!
If the car the salesman is trying to sell you doesn't have it...have him DEALER TRADE for one that does....
MRC is something you cannot add after the fact .. so its better to get it .. because if you change your mind after delivery ... only way to get it is to buy another C7.
For a non z51 skip mag ride, for a z51 get it, that's my advice. Regardless do what makes you happy not what the dealer pushes you toward. A dealer is a salesman and one of the first rules of selling is to get the customer to make the purchase as quickly as possible. The longer you let them think about it the more the sale costs and the more likely the customer is to change their mind and back out. They will tell you whatever they think will get you to write the check asap.

I would have preferred MRC on my Z51, but I needed a car, and this had just about everything else I wanted, plus some more. My Cadillac XLR did have MRC (first generation).
I have to say that if my Z51 sticker said "MRC" on it, I would not have noticed that it wasn't installed. The ride is firm, but smooth, even on bad roads. You may want to test drive both and see if there is a noticeable difference to you.
