Mine is a 2014 z-51 produced in March 2014. 3 months ago, I was driving away from the dealership after a routine oil change and the alert came on and the car had virtually no acceleration and top speed was 30mph. Limped back to the dealership where they checked the codes and found one but the tech said he could not identify it so concluded it was a "transient". He cleared the code and the check engine light disappeared and all was well until. Two weeks ago in routine city driving the identical sequence repeated itself. Has anyone had this happen and what was the diagnosis? Is there any risk in driving the car with this situation unresolved?
Haven't had it happen in my '15 C7 but had it happen in 2 of my C5's and my C6. All 3 incidences were caused by the Body Control Model which was not communicating with the Engine Control Module. In all the cases they replaced the BCM and the cars were fine.
I would take it back to the dealer asap and see if they can resolve the issue. It is not a good idea to continue to drive the car ( my opinion ).
If your dealer can not solve this issue I would call another dealer or call Chevrolet Customer Service and have them start a file on this.
I really hope your can get this resolved soon, no fun having a car that throws mystery codes, or what the dealer thinks is a mystery code.
I had it once flooring it on a hwy off ramp, had to shift to restore power, others figured it was a tune issue, I figured it was oil, never seen it again
I get this message when backing out of my garage. Its like if you are in Reverse for a certain time period comes on. Then goes off when I switch into drive. Never had this come on any other time. I figured its a safety feature. 2015 A8

Well the first part happened to me last year but I was on my way to the dealer for an oil change. They checked it and said they could not reproduce, they cleared the code and I have put on about 6000 miles this year and not had the problem return.
If your mechanic wasn't willing to contact GM to find out what the code actually meant, you need to find a new mechanic. That one doesn't deserve your business.
Check your batt voltage and make sure its above 12.0 volts, with engine not running. Strange things happen when the new generation cars are low on voltage.
