Default Convertible top creeking

I have a 16 Vert and have a annoying creaking coming from the third bow in the top. Anybody know how to access the bows. Cant seem to get to them without dropping the inner liner. Not sure the undertaking needed to do that. I am sure if I could get to the area where the noise is I can repair the problem. Anybody have dropped that inner liner? Thanks for the help.

I have a 16 convertible also and I have the same issue. Not sure where you live but in the hot weather it creeks and in the cold weather it doesn't. Its very odd but drives me nuts. I posted this very same thread a while back and nobody had responded. I'm in Massachusetts so it's 50-60 degrees out and it does not make a noise right now.

My 2014 snaps and pops as it is raised and lowered, but no creaking that I have heard...

No noises like that on my 2015. But I think you're right that you'll need to separate the top to access the internals. Sounds like a warranty repair to me. That way if the dealer screws up the top they'll have to take care of it.

Mine has a "creak" on the passenger side in the middle by the hinge. I took a napkin that was handy and stuffed it under the wire loom and that cured it.

That's a warranty repair. Good grief another quality issue. At the price of a C7 convertible this should not be happening. Coupe or convertible it seems that the top creaks. My coupe rove me nuts before I traded it off.

I am just not going to go there, but it might be just one of the reasons convertibles are not more popular.

You want a wife with 3,500 miles on her?

You do know that's way over the milage considered "broken in"?

I've had 5 of them including the '15. I'm simply at a point in time where I prefer a coupe with the see through roof panel.

My top has no unusual noises. There is some noise when cycling top up or down as various components position during the process. Convertibles are just so much fun, I will never get another coupe.

My 2017 GS vert w/2200 miles just started creaking once it gets hot. 2 things I will look for since my 2012 GS vert had the same issue/resolution: 1) Be sure the waterfall is not rubbing on the tonneau cover. If it is, push down on the waterfall to expand that gap between both items. 2) There is a hard rubber/adjustable stop just under the middle of the deck lid and tonneau cover. Unsnap the top protector in the trunk and try moving the support bar where the stop is screwed into. If you can duplicate that annoying creak, put a few drops of bicycle chain lube (teflon) on the rubber stop and it should stop the creaking.

I took mine to a dealer and the fix was very easy...there are apparently screws along the underside of the support bar...one was not tightened properly...fix took 20 minutes and no problems since
