I just read that Chevrolet put a secondary cooler on all 2016 with A8. I wasn't told this when I bought mine. It would be great if its true. Save me some money adding one...Mike

Chevrolet actually introduced the secondary cooler on the 2015 Z06s after it was discovered that these cars were overheating under track conditions consistently. It was becoming a serious problem. As a result, for the 2016 model year, Chevrolet decided to add this secondary cooler to all production Z06s as well as all Z51 cars - again due to the potential for overheating on the track or hard driving conditions. As the Z51 is also intended for track use, it made sense. Chevrolet has not, to my knowledge, added the secondary cooler to the base c7 cars. These cars, while Stingrays, are not particularly track ready and Chevrolet assumes owners are smart enough to recognize that. I have not heard from regular track drivers as to the extent to which this has solved the overheating problem but given that it was largely thrown on without changing the intakes or body panels, I wouldn't think the improvement is total. Certainly I suspect it has helped but I'm not sure it has completely solved the problem. I guess we will see if track drivers respond to this thread. Interestingly, Chevrolet chose not to designate this issue as a recall item. Therefore owners of prior models do not get this "fix" without shelling out money for it. Hope this info helps!

Recalls are for safety issues.

FIY, I drove my early production (July) Z51 2016 at Summit Point three days without a problem... I set the car in Track/Race mode, and drove 10 15-minute sessions at 8-9/10ths, doing demo ride with students and other instructors.

Ambient temp was 45-65F. I put the trans into M mode and used the paddles. I had zero overheating problems.

Supposed to have a front mounted secondary trans cooler, not fan, like the Z06. Still havent seen one myself. After looking at my '16 non-z51 it appears the rear cooler and fan is larger then my old '14 A6 was, but I could be wrong since I dont have the '14 here to compare.

GM 2016 parts manual should tell the whole story..
