Default Launch Control w/performance timer--WTH?

Ok, been trying to get launch control to work for the last several weeks with no success until a couple days ago. Suddenly it work, and then I realized I'd tried it without the performance timer on. I tested it again today and confirmed if you select the performance timer to start before launch control, launch control never kicks in, the engine revs all the way to redline. Scroll off the performance timer and launch control works fine. WTH?

Who ever thought this was a great idea? Unless I've got something wrong. Anybody else have the same experience?

At the Ron Fellows School a couple of weeks ago, they did a demo on both stick and auto cars. The biggest thing Rick stressed it you "MUST" slam the right foot down quickly on the throttle (after getting into the correct mode of course) for the computer to kick in.....otherwise no joy.

Side note; I'm one to read the manual cover to cover.....if you are like me, you will have noticed that in the owners manual it states that cars with Mag Ride do not have the launch control feature.....NOT SO!

Have you tried it with the performance timer on?

I do not get carried away with changing fluids on a calendar schedule or worrying about the oil draining from engine components if the engine sits idle for a few months, like so what! One thing I will never do is slam the throttle to the floor and expect the computer to protect the engine from exceeding red line rpm, than dumping the clutch to accomplish a 0 to 60 time of the speed of sound! Now that is abuse!

If it is allowed in the owner's manual, then I don't consider it abuse. It may NOT be something that I would do every time I stopped at a traffic signal but I would consider it appropriate to do on the drag strip.
