So I get this call at home the other day. They say they know I have a new corvette and ask if I'd like to take a survey about the AMG. I wasn't overly interested but then they say they will pay me $400 to take the survey. They have since called back to confirm the phone survey appointment for noon Saturday. I'm not sure how they know I own a new corvette. I brought it from MacMulkin in April 2015. Anyone else get a call like this?? I don't think it's a scam but we'll see. I asked if they were from Mercedes but they said they could not say.
Lots of businesses sell their databases to marketing/survey companies. That's why you see so many disclaimers from companies soliciting info from you for their internal use - they want to assure you they won't distribute it but, with knows if they really hold back.
I have purchased a few high end cars over the years and have taken these surveys. Chevy somehow knew I was looking to get another AMG so after their call they offered me FREE track time at Milford NJ in a 2014 C7. WELL after a few laps i made up my mind on a 2015 Z51 picked it up NCM in April 2015 and never looked back. Just make sure NO personal info.
That sounds really strange. I sure wouldn't give them any personal info., which they probably would ask for so they could give you the mythical $400.
smells like a scam.
Foir the record I bought at Macmalkin and didn't get any calls for surveys. I did get a paper survey in the mail. (don't know if it was the dealer or GM itself that gave out the info) Nowhere near $400 offered to fill it out. Don't remember what they offered to fill it out.

I wouldn't go with it. if they're legit they would tell you who they are.
Nobody pays $400 for a simple survey. They used to pay you only $250 if a mfr invites you to a focus group.
Recall when I had my '88 Vette many years ago being paid $150 by Cadillac to attend a focus group. But that was ~25 years ago and $150 then = about $250 today!
Recall when we had focus groups conducted in several locations around the US we had to up the amount to get enough folks to attend! But then who wants to spend several hours after work talking about welding!
If so, it may be one of your relatives. Tell them you are still waiting for Uncle Nigel's deposit of U.S. $10,000,000.00. into your Bank Account and that, until that deposit is made, you are NOT taking any stupid survey for U.S. $400.00.
A lot of various companies that peddle insurance, after market warranties, and other crapulance pay to get registration feeds from the States and then the junk mail comes. I got my crisp $1 bill from JD Powers and I would have paid them to blast my crappy Acura.
In today era of "big data" AGM could be targeting a very specific market segment and maybe you are it. Funny, I would have thought it would have been from Mercedes Benz since they market thei AMG cars in the US but who knows. Or more likely, some kind of scam. Just don't give them any personal info, like where you want their fee deposited!

Doesn't sound right to me. And two hours on the phone is worth more than $400 to me. That could be the most boring 2 hours of your life.
I guess you could always hang up.
