If you actually track it and use the power, then that makes sense...if not, you're just insecure and 99.9% of the peeps on the street have no clue that your Z06 is "oh so cool"....
I am sorry sir but you are a poser.

LOL. I am a newbie (to this forum) and I have a Z06 on order. Enjoy your car!

Just a couple of questions for you....

Why are you "so glad" you made the "jump" from a "standard" C7 to a Z06?

Other than the wheels and spoiler, doesn't look any different from a Z51 or "standard" C7....

I know you don't use the extra 200 hp on the street....so what is the attraction, other than the badge and bragging rights?????
I've had a C7 Stingray and now I have a C7 Z06. Two completely different cars. If you are on here bashing a guy for getting to upgrade, then obviously you are jealous.

Yeah.

I just like the wide body and if we don't have a GS by 17-18, I'll be buying a Z06. Quite an incredible car.

Couldn't say for sure but I'm thinking 99.9% of the people would say "oh so cool" seeing this coming down the road. I think it looks awesome!

OP,

Congrats on the Z06. As you're finding out, they are a blast to drive.

Have fun and be safe.

I was not bashing the guy, mr. sensitive...just suggesting that if one does not track the car and actually need the 200 extra hp, then, why spend the money when you could buy a nice Harley for the difference? Get over yourself.

With nearly 200 more HP, you should see quite a difference between the base C7 and the Z06. Beautiful new car you got - enjoy the ride.

I don't get this line of reasoning - you use the power every time you accelerate (whether full throttle or not). You don't need to be tracking it to tell the difference or appreciate the difference. Otherwise we'd all be driving Toyota Celicas.

Yep, you are right Mr Z51..... Everyone is entitled to an opinion but there are times they are not needed and certainly don't need to be voiced....... Like now. If you want to whine and complain about people that buy Z06's go start a different thread and keep your opinions to yourself on threads started by someone showing off their new ride. I see you like to indicate you have a Z51..... Why? I am pretty sure you didn't need to spend your money on that option to commute or whatever you do with your car.

I just sold a tube chassis pro street Chevy II that was certainly not needed to drive on the street. So what? It was brutal and an adrenaline rush to take it out.

A real car guy understands we buy and do things with vehicles that don't make sense to many but it does to other car guys AND gals. From your "opinions" I can tell instantly you are not a real car guy.

I agree completely. This question comes up all the time, questioning whether the roughly $ 20,000 ( not $30,000) difference between a comparably equipped Z06 vs a Stingray Z51 is worth the coin. The simple answer is, one is a very fast car and the other is an explosively fast car. The reason is the FULL TORQUE that is available at virtually any rpm. For street use, all one needs is to roll into the throttle at say 20/30 mph and only use about 1/3 to 1/2 throttle and that Z06 will be accelerating so fast, you won't believe it. A stock Stingray, although certainly not a dog by any stretch, WILL NOT come on like a house on fire like the Z06 will.

As to the same old non sense argument " you can't use it on the street ", that is total baloney. You can use it on the street for a lot of fun, safely, just not careening around corners like a complete idiot at 9/10's or roll racing in traffic from 60 mph to 150 mph, or other reckless activities. What I've been doing for years in my LPE supercharged C6's, present nicely modded CTS-V and future C7 Z06, is running around occasionally at 1/3 to 1/2 throttle in the 20 to 70 mph range and allso out in the middle of nowhere by myself with no one else around where it's okay to do it, running it thru the gears for a quick blast up to around 100 mph or so, and then slowing right down. Maximum fun for a huge sh-- eating grin and a safe way of having fun.

It's pretty simple... to most car guys the power, speed and beauty of a great sports car is something that really doesn't need to be explained. It's a sickness and for most of us we hope they never find a cure. The amount of money one can and will spend on a car is a personal decision. Some people are more fortunate than others and should be thankful they can buy whatever they want. I'm thankful every day that I can take care of my family and enjoy my toys of which I have many. Do I need them? No. Do I love having them? of course...
