Is the Navigation GPS system dependent on Onstar? Or will GPS navigation continue to function when the complimentary subscription expires? I would then have to use my cell phone or a portable GPS I assume. Thanks.
Independent. Don't need OnStar for the NAV system to work. Can't use the OnStar nav guidance function with out the NAV but the NAV will get you where you want to go all by itself.

Yup, I never even activated the free trial of OnStar on mine and the Nav works fine.

Gotta leave the car running for 50 minutes so says the instructions. Then again it says if interrupted and restarted, it will pick up where it left off.
