I have a 2015 stingray (A8, 1LT). I've never really cared for the back and forth shifting from 4 cyl to 8 cyl because it always seemed so noticeable and didn't feel right. Eventually, I started driving in M mode with the paddle shifters and the problem was solved.
I recently purchased a z06 (A8) and the wife is driving the 2015 now. She mentioned that she felt some shuddering while she drives it (she drives in automatic) so I checked it out today. As always, you can feel the frequent shifts from 4cyl to 8 cyl, but now at about 43-45 miles an hour, on a level road, there is some very noticeable shuddering, which goes away if you give it gas. I can see that it is in 4 cyl and is not shifting back and forth to 8 cyl. So, it is in 4 cyl and at the speed of 43-45 that you can definitely feel this shuddering.
In trying to do a little troubleshooting on my own, I discovered this problem doesn't exist if I am in Manual mode regardless of the gear while I'm driving at the same speed of 43-45, or any other speed, so I was wondering if anyone has any ideas what this might be? Thanks in advance.
Ok, just a wild guess, but maybe you have a spark plug wire not seated completely and when you're supposed to be on four you're really on 3, 3 1/2. I've seen more than a few posts where this was an issue. At least it's free to check.
You might be able to get that cheaper if you shop it. Even if that's not the problem you're describing, it sounds like you might be interested in disabling that feature anyway. Good luck!
It was suggested at the museum delivery that you should try to avoid the v-4 mode for the first 500 miles and the only way to stop that during this period was to vary speed in automatic or keep the transmission in the manual mode and it never goes to the v-4 mode. I found this to be true.
I put up the display mode that shows the cylinder mode and verified this.
