Is there any flexibility on the dates for the museum delivery?
I'm going to order a corvette but would like to pick it up the last week of March on my way back from Florida. I hear it takes 6-8 weeks to build so should I wait till the middle to the end of January to order, and will they keep it at the factory till the last week of March?

You can move it back but not forward. Mine waited for about a month.

The trouble is, unless you are ordering from one of the high volume dealers, and what options you order, it could be a month or two before your order is even accepted by GM, which is when the 6-8 weeks to Museum delivery starts.

Just call Shane @ NCM after your order is at status code 3000 and he will have a frank conversation on what your options are for pickup. My last NCM (have done two) was very easy and Shane was very accommodating with my schedule.

This ! Either Shane or Matt are great to work with.
While the NCM will try to accommodate you, they have limited storage availability so they can't hold one indefinitely. They normally try to schedule you within 2 weeks of it being available to them.
Agree with fdxpilot, allocations and constraints have a major impact on time from order to build. 6-8 weeks is about the best you could expect. Order from a low volume Corvette dealer and you could wait for months.

Time line
Keep in mind, that things are far enough along now at B G that if ordering from a forum dealer such as Ken Fichtner or Mike Furman, unless what you ask for is a major constraint issue, the order will get picked up and advance rather quickly. Even with a two top option, my order went from 1100 when Ken placed it late on a Thursday afternoon to 3800 in just under 2 weeks. Were it not for the Thanksgiving holiday, the car would already have been built. In fact, it may have been late this past week. They are running several days ahead of schedule at the plant according to the museum R8C team. Either way, I'll still have it home by Christmas.
