After getting a few messages on the screen saying that the fuel door was not closed when it was, I now have a check engine light and OnStar reported a problem with the emissions system. Anybody heard of this before? I have an appointment with the dealer but they want me to leave the car. Not keen to do so.

Haven't had this problem, but like you, I would be very hesitant to leave my car for a CEL for emissions crap light.

I would asked them WHY do you want me to LEAVE my car.....Isn't it something you can check out while I wait???
Tell them what ever excuse you need to, but I would not leave my car. I have found if you wait the service is much quicker. The service writer gets tired of seeing you waiting and asking them how everything is going. If this was a major repair you would have to leave your car but not for your problem.
The C7 doesn't have a fuel door, but if the flap doesn't close all the way, sealing the fuel system, the system will generate a CEL for that. If that's all it is, it will reset once the flap is closed correctly and you drive it a few times.
I'd go to a gas station, stick the nozzle in and remove it a couple of times, then drive it for a few days, and hope it clears on its own.
Thanks, guys. I decided to go to a friends auto repair shop and have him clear the code. I'm hoping it is like what meyerweb said. After one day so far so good.
