But remember that an air filter doesn't push air. Unless the stock intake / filter is so restrictive the engine can't suck all the air it needs, adding a less restrictive filter won't do anything. Chevy uses the same filter on the supercharged Z06, so I find it hard to believe it can't supply all the air the NA LT1 engine needs.
A lot of it has to do with the EPA and federally mandated noise levels. The aftermarket does not have to deal with these issues. Even without CARB certs, no problem. The manufactures only need make note of this on the packaging. Look at what all Good-win racing out of San Diego sells that is not CARB approved for street use. That sure as heck hasn't hurt his sales.

I only paid $450.00 for mine. The 10 hp gain is right inline with what 21st Century has seen with their installs. What makes this worthwhile is that the gains are in the mid range which is where one would want it. All of the K&N dyno sheets I've seen don't make power until the top is reached. I for one do not make it a habit of driving at w o t. One other side benefit I've noticed and has been mentioned by others is that the exhaust note seems to have deepened slightly over time. I'd really like to know what the air/fuel mixture differences are now over stock. After my son did his thing on the Three Twisted Sisters Friday, if the ecu hasn't made the necessary corrections, it never will ........
Except as been pointed out, this isn't the C6. Vastly different.
true that statement!!!!!! the c6 drew air from under the hood. if you used a type that cut the shroud then the snorkel would pick up cooler air for sure (if the snorkel sit on top of the radiator), also the snorkel being where it was it also gets you the ram air effect that I haven't seen a system for the 7 yet at all. So you do get ram air and cold air which has got to be an improvement for sure especially once you get moving and start to get the ram air effect.
On the 7 you don't get ram air since the filter sits in the fender (or at least its no better then stock at all) and do you get the cold air effect? (sure but its absolutely no better then stock) so why would they claim gains? a less restrictive filter will help both those things since the air will move faster and get a little better cooler air I suppose and get you some small hp gains. My consensus? buy a better air filter and you are done, skip all the flashy windows and extra money and use it somewhere else, like a catch can for instance..... paul
Real world, not dyno is the only thing that has any REAL meaning... I won't was my money and it is more impressive running quick and fast without a after market CAI system. In the past on the 09 Z51 I tried the same day (1) K&N CAI, (2) K&N aftermarket OEM filter with the OEM CAI, and (3) the Stock Z06 CAI with the K&N OEM replacement filter. All 1/4 mile runs where within a half of a 10th and a half of a MPH. Waist of time.

And this isn't your '09. Btw, I had one too. Kooks headers with high flow cats. Halltech CAI. Ran like a scalded dog after Matt at 21st Century tuned it. What I like is that the C7 aFe uses a dry filter. The oiled one is for competition use.

Reason: spelling
PS: I will also try the "low flow" dry filter, you never know until you give it a try.
This was my aFe dry vs. oiled comparison. But the Z06 and FI may be able to get something more from the oiled. I will have my first UOA results early this week to verify the filtration of the dry filter.

I got mine on the early C7 group buy for $350. and Josh at aFe sent both filters when I mentioned I was buying my own dyno time to test things for myself.

In the midrange of my curves posted earlier, it was in the +13HP range at about 5200RPM if memory serves.
The aFe ran +7% to +9% LTFT on my '14 and +3% to +5% LTFT on my '15. The DS aFe tune brought the '14 to near perfect 0% LTFT.
