I have Corsa Extremes on my '15 1LT 7-speed and would like a little more overall sound. Have read hundreds of posts here about mods and exhaust systems, but was wondering if anyone has tried a more basic solution of drilling quarter-inch holes, one at a time, in their Extreme mufflers until the sound was "right". Would drone increase if this was done?

Did you change to an off road X-Pipe? That should do the trick for you. Or I read somewhere that you can do a muffler delete but try the x-pipe man...I love it!
There's a reason that exhaust pipes extend to the very rear of the car. Because the carbon monoxide in the exhaust gas can kill you. So you want to create a situation where the exhaust "leaks" under the car and can find it's way into the car cabin, especially when the car is stationary. Probably not the best idea you've had.
Actually, once hot, the cats do an excellent job of cleaning the exhaust, i think it would be harder than you think to kill yourself with a few holes in the muffler. Many mufflers had drain holes in there already.

I agree, if the drilling was done near the rear it should be 'ok'....
Though, I find this solution hacky and I also find it hard to believe that it would give the desired effect. It will be louder... sure. Though, will it sound 'good'? Doubtful.

The cats have no effect on the generated Carbon Monoxide.

uh?? that is the whole point of a catalytic converter, google it if you don't believe me.... modern cars actually can CLEAN the air ( once at light off temperature )
A reduction and oxidation reaction occurs inside the device. Carbon monoxide (CO) in converted to carbon dioxide (CO2). Nitrogen oxides (NOx) are broken down into nitrogen gas (N2) and oxygen gas (O2). And hydrocarbons (HC) are converted into carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O).

Thanks for the warning, but dad did drill the carbon monoxide dangers into me before I could drive. But don't some exhaust cutouts then share this, since some exit what seems to be under the middle of the frame.

You're right, should have googled first. Strike my concern. Drill baby Drill.
