Default Cags plug

I ordered the skip shift eliminator for my 2015 Vette. First chance I had to install it was at least month after I got it. It appears that the plug is different than what i need. Is the plug different from prior years? It also references 6 speed transmission. Just wondering if they sent me one from an earlier or later model car. Thanks

The piece you pictured plugs the socket in the transmission. The black piece picture in the second post goes in the end of the cable that you disconnect from the tranny. If you didn't get both pieces, you need to contact the vendor.

You are correct. I do have the whole kit. The issue is the little white plug I took the picture of did not seem to fit in the transmission. The directions reference 6 speed transmission also.

Mine did too, but have another piece of paper for the C7.

The connector for the C7 is the upper one on the drivers side of the trans, NOT the lower one. Unplug the connector from the trans, install the black piece onto the pigtail and connect the white piece into the trans. I cut the zip tie off from the factory pigtail, this made it easier to install the connectors. I used the supplied zip tie to hold down the pigtail where it was originally attached on the trans.

I un plugged the upper connector but the little plug did not seem to fit. I believe I have it going in the right place, just not fitting.. So is there a difference between plugs are earlier or later models?? Just to make sure of what I got..

There was an earlier thread on this forum where several folks got CAGS kits with the wrong connector. Contact the vendor and I'm sure they will fix you up.

(IIRC some members modified the connector to fit. I would not want to do that if it were mine.)

That is only half of it. There should be a black socket if you purchased this from ZIP. Ours is correct, we make it and besides the fact that we have hundreds of them out there, it is on our C7 as well. The only issues I have had with them not fitting is customers either trying to install them to the wrong plug or looking at the GM schematic drawing which shows the wrong plug.

You know, if you try to shift from 1st to 2nd and the CAGS directs the shift to 4th, just shift into 3rd. It will go into 3rd and the engine will not be strained.

Another trick my NCM delivery host mentioned to me while I was taking delivery of my ZR1 is this: if CAGS is activated and directing the shifter from 1 to 4, just as the shifter goes into 4th gear gate, CAGS will be released and allow you to shift to 2nd or 3rd as you choose. I did this for the first 5k miles until I could install the Defeat resistor underneath the car at the tranny solenoid.

I have seen some suppliers selling the eliminator that says it will only fit a C7 and not prior years, but I am not sure if it is the connector that is different or the resistance is different.

For reference, I have seen two styles of connectors... They are the same size except one has a partition in the male connector so it can only go on one way, and the other does not...

Look up inside the connector on the transmission and see if there is a partition like the plug on the left in this photo.

Also note, the skip shift solenoid is WHITE, and other connectors for the reverse lockout and temperature are BLACK which should help identify the correct one to unplug.

I just removed my fuel door actuator and it had a connector that was the same size, except it had the partition. I used an old skip shift eliminator (without the resistor) to cap the wiring harness plug, and it fit fine.

The connectors are different. The one with the divider in the middle (left side of photo, above) doesn't fit C7s.

As pointed out in my note, the male connector on the left would be the one on the solenoid. The wiring harness plug would be one of the two on the right.

I have not actually unplugged mine to look on the C7, but I think you are correct that the connector that is part of the solenoid should not have the partition. The photo was just to point out that the partition should be the only thing that would keep the white plug from going on. Otherwise, they should be the same size. Obviously, you still have to make sure the locking clip is on the correct side before it will plug all the way in.
