Default SD card not recognized

I just got my car delivered to Germany from the US, and I'm running into a weird issue. I have 2 16GB SD cards, one for the PDR and one for music. The PDR recognizes the card, but the media player doesn't, saying No Media Found. I switched the cards and the PDR sees both of them and Media sees neither. Is there a way to wake up the SD Media reader? USB devices detect fine. Could I have a fuse out?

Thanks

What year do you have? The 2016 has no reader for music! The one in the glove compartment is NOT for music.

Is this for real? This is a feature I think is pretty cool in my '15. I can load a huge amount of music on an SD card and leave it in the car.

If it's a '15, your problem could be the way you have the songs saved to the card.....search for programing SD cards for music; lots have been posted.

Basically, it's a 3 step filing/programing; Category - Album - Song(s)....pretty easy once you have the hang of it.

Yep but you can buy flush mounted memory that fits in the USD slots.

There are a number of flush mount memory devices available, Google.

So my 15 will read music from an SD chip if inserted in the glove box chip reader?

Not in the glove box. That's only for the PDR. '14s and '15s have a slot for an SD Card in the center console storage compartment, along with 2 USB ports and an aux input jack. It should be formatted using the FAT32 file system. I have a 32 GB SD card in my Z , and it has about 4800 songs on it. I also have a USB flash drive with a couple hundred more in the USB port behind the infotainment screen.

It was my understanding if the car came equipped with a PRD that SD card reader in the glove compartment only was used for video AND there was NO SD card reader in the console. If that is the case, unlike my 2014 there is no SD slot in the console and you'll have to use a device that plugs into the USB receptacle. Let us know if you find one.
