Default Question on C7

Someone did a hit and run on my C7. Not much damage, but it did pop the removable grill piece out on the upper right side of the grill. My question is this. Why is that the only removable piece of the grill and what is the hole/port behind the grill piece?

It's where a tow hook goes. U.S. cars don't have the threaded insert and don't come with the hook.

Z06's and Z51's (2015 and later I believe) do come with the threaded receivers (both front and rear).
