I was showing a friend the new car, as our discussion came to valet mode, he suggested it would be great to use when taking the car in for service.
I told him I thought it would be a direct insult towards the mechanic or techs servicing the vehicle.

What are your thoughts?
If you feel you have to have it on when being serviced, I would find another shop to do the service. It would be an insult!!
I trust my local chevy dealer for service. I've had 3 corvettes and they have always done a great job. However I always mark down my odometer reading and check it when I get car back. No issues.
Sorry guys I'm going to have to disagree. I know someone who had a great purchasing experience at their dealer so they went there for service and put the valet mode on. Good thing they did because it recorded a 20 minute joy-ride where speeds exceeded 100MPH on the highway and 60MPH on residential roads.

One example out of 70,000+ sold so far doesn't really mean much. If I didn't trust the local dealer where I bought and take mine I wouldn't take it there.

There also is a thread I couldn't find where the mechanic was so pissed he couldn't listen to the radio. He threatened to sabotage the car while talking to another mechanic. It was all recorded on the PDR.

Current model PDRs and those that have been software upgraded by the dealer will no longer record audio in valet mode.
