Often when I park I seem to hit the EBrake button and I must do it too soon because it doesn't take. But then I got to thinking - there's a lot of things in this car that can be set to happen automatically like the lights and locking the door, etc. Why not, if the car is not moving, the engine is turned off and the driver door opens, then the EBrake should set. It would be convenient. Any ideas why this is not the case? They just didn't think of it?
I dislike the electronic E-brake. I have accidently touched it and of course the brake sets. When I try to pull away the car want move and I don't like it. I have an A8 so I really don't need the emergency brake just like all the other cars with an auto I have owned.

It sets when you touch it? Sorry, not quite believing that since you have to pull up on the switch. And if it is set and you put it in gear, any gear, and touch the accelerator it turns it off.

How do you accidentally touch it to activate? It needs to be pulled up.
Not only that, but when you apply gas to "pull away", it automatically disengages; not seeing the problem.
I like the e-brake. It was a learning curve at first, now brake setting is easy and the control is not intrusive. Brake release is simple; add brake, push the brake control and your off. It will release when you add power, not gracefully. Emergency; pull and hold the brake control, works as advertised.

By touching it I mean I cannot figure out how I accidently set the break. I commute so I am always setting something in the passenger seat and I do come in contact with the center console. All I know is my car will not budge (parked on a downslope) when I shift to D because the E-brake is on and I did not set it on purpose. I do not like this. I really don't know how the e-break works.
I miss the handle.

From: Calgary, AB. There's a reason why white was the only color offered on every year Corvette. Proud Canadian German Jamaican!

well technically speaking it doesn't "turn off" it releases.

Honestly, I have done the same thing. Don't know how, but I have.
I don't think that is the E brake. That is the feature that keeps you from rolling when stopped on an incline. It releases a couple of seconds after you take your foot off the brake pedal. I hadn't noticed it with the Z06 A8 but I love it on the Stingray M7.
While we are on the electronics drop the E-brake go back to pull handle, touch scree radio go back to dial, and please drop the Fob and push button start and give me a key. I don't mind rolling down the window. When I can pay 60+K for a car and buy 400 HP I don't want a complicating Econo mode that screws with the automatic trans shifting. Sorry old habits die hard.

I am 100% with you on that.
With all the goofy electronics my 2015 coupe has, this is my last Corvette.
