Buy a new 2016? Or save $15-ish grand and get a used 2014?
I'm looking at a new 2016 Z51 LT2 (with mag shocks), and comparing that with the possibility of saving 15ish grand getting a 2014 used (likely from the posts online here.) I'm really interested in the PDR, and really don't want to deal with electrical gremlins. Am I correct in assuming they've been resolved in the newer models? Or have they been resolved in all the models? Or are they still there? I'm trying to mentally come to the conclusion if the 'smiles/dollar' is there for the new 2016. Or if I should just get a used 2014 Thoughts?

No PDR in 2014. Might be worth 15K if you can get a 2014 garage queen with only 5K miles.

Depends on your financial situation. Do not over extend yourself with something you cannot afford to purchase. Do some research. Nothing wrong with buying used vehicles with the proper research and vehicle history. Take your time and look around. A bunch of deals out there on the dealer lots and on the internet.

Faced a similar situation last month. I was going to order a new 2016 bare bones 1LT with nothing more than performance exhaust. Not because that's all I wanted, but because that kept the price low. Stumbled on a 2014 in the exact color combo I was going to order, but was loaded with about 15k in options... Z51, 2LT, red calipers, car cover, battery tender, etc. and it only had 1500 miles. I went with the loaded 14 and have no regrets.
No one's going to know a 14 from a 16, and you'll have $15,000 to play with.

Tough one. Depends on how much the PDR and CarPlay is worth to you. A8 vs A6 to consider as well if you're going that route. I love my PDR, but not $15K worth of love.

Everyone that is telling you to buy new doesn't know or doesn't care what your financial situation is. The fact you're even asking about 2014's tells me that your common sense is telling you to think twice about buying new. A word of advice: don't seek out opinions from anonymous people on message boards when it comes to your pocketbook

Don't buy a car that the payments leave you with no cash to enjoy it.
A 14 I want did not present itself and I reallllly wanted the 16 gizmos .... I really enjoy my Sweet16. ...
More so then any car I have ever had.
But for me it would have been one year less fiance so payment was actually more. ..
Your milage may vary. ...
I recommend buying what you will enjoy!

I kept looking on-line when Mike Furman at Criswell put together a deal that made it worth while to buy used.
Anyone buying used needs to look at the depreciation that has occurred to the 2014, the loss of warranty coverage and what it costs to make up the difference and the cost of mileage. The deal I made included a certified car, so my warranty is only 8 months less than if I purchased a new car. My '14 only had 4200 miles on it when purchased and it's a Z-51, 2LT with mag ride, nav, NPP, painted calipers and some other minor additions. However, it's a M-7 so the transmission issue does not apply. By comparison, if I purchased a new 2016, I'd have to find a heavily discounted car with zero options and maybe I'd break even. Since I plan on keeping this car a number of years, the depreciation factor is a non-event.
There's nothing wrong with a used car, but be sure you're paying the right amount for it. I recommend you put together a spreadsheet and track cars within a 200 or 300 mile distance to determine what the right prices are for a used Vette and for a new Vette. Once you plot some data, it begins to talk to you. Then when a good deal comes along, you'll recognize it immediately. One more comment. When comparing the deal on a 2014 to new, use discounted examples that you can find on line. Almost no one is paying MSRP for a 2016.

2016 Front cameras and Long Beach Red are two reasons I waited. Sometimes when you see it, you know that's the one you want. If it's about money, then go with the year that works best for you.

It seems by about production number 10,000 in 2014, most all the gremlins were worked out, so the remaining 27,000 2014's have few issues.
Other than PDR, front cameras, Car Play, the A8, wheels on the base car and color choices, the 2014 and 2016's are the same.
Unlike most car models, there are lots of ultra low mileage garage queen Corvette's that come up for sale. A super clean 2014 with less than 5,000 miles is as good as new in my book.
If I could save $10-15k by buying a C7 similar to my flawless 3,300 mile 2014 - why wouldn't I?

I just went through the same situation. New vs. Used. Priced out a '16 2LT non Z51 with almost everything I wanted, almost. Came in at a decent price after discounts, but I just wasn't feeling good about the whole thing. I've been looking at pre owned for over six months, and the prices were quite high also. But, I persevered. I found a '14 3LT Z51 w/5K miles that has everything I wanted plus other neat thingys for 6K cheaper. Using the SWAG method I'm guessing the '14 is somewhere in the neighborhood of 17K off MSRP. If everything gels I'll bring it home soon. Good luck on your decision, and your search.

I am going thru the same thoughts right now. There are the obvious pros and cons. Smell of a new car vs saving $15k.
Getting a car with your options vs settling for whatever comes with a car. And other factors like new options etc.
Anyways let us know how you make out and good luck with your purchase.
