Default A8 Temps

After driving for over 2 hours, mainly freeway 70-75, or a 30 minute mix of town and freeway, trans temp is barely off the lowest possible reading, not even at the first hash mark. Outside temps 65-70 (yes a "heat wave" here in ca). Consistently so for the first 1400 miles on my 2016 ZO6. Is this normal? What is your experience with Z51 or C7?

i can drive on the highway all day in the 60-70s and the temp gauge seldom goes above a notch or two from the bottom. But stopping in traffic after a long highway drive or driving it on some winding country roads in manual mode the gauge goes up past mid-range pretty quick.

I have a '16 non-z51 so I dont have the extra cooler like the Z06 or '16+ Z51.

My Z06 is the same. Trans temp barely moves off the lowest mark during my 20 minute commute which is about a 50/50 mix of highway and city.

I have a '15 Z51 A8 and my transmission temp is also normally quite low. It takes a lot of spirited driving, shifting through the gears at high rpm to get it above the mid point on the gauge. Or a 20 minute session on a road course track!

Heat is built up by fluid friction in the torque converter. When you are driving on the freeway the clutch plates in the torque converter lock the converter up one to one. Since there is no slippage in the torque converter at lock up, there is no heat build up.
