Is there any way to reduce the sensitivity of the automatic light sensor? Every time I drive on a road where tall buildings block the sun the headlights turn on and the dashboard brightness significantly reduces. It drives me nuts. I'm the only one driving around at 4:30pm with the headlights on. Any suggestions?
I haven't seen any sensitivity adjustment, but you can turn the automatic light control off temporarily by rotating the light switch to the off/on position

I agree, I wish there was, but none that I'm aware of. Sometimes I just turn them too the OFF setting for the same reason you mentioned. In traffic on the freeway when I'm under an overpass they pop on, then go off in a few seconds. Had a guy in front of me flip me off as I think he thought I was flashing my lights for him to get going, which was impossible to do.

If I turn it off, will it leave the DRLs on? Will the dash gauges stay bright?
There are plenty of situations where the lights turn on/dash dims, as well as the HUD being too bright or dim.
Back in the early days some auto headlights used to have a sensitivity control, would be a nice thing in the menu options. But the C7 isnt the only car/truck I ever had that would turn the headlights/dim the dash on on a sunny day driving under trees or when the sun is behind he car and its still pretty bright outside.
i have a similar issue... backing out of my garage the headlights stay on and the interior lights including the LCD monitor stay dim for too long. The upshot is that the rear view cam is not really visible until the lights switch off, which usually happens when I am already done backing up.
There is no way to reduce or increase the sensitivity of the the auto headlight function. Yes you can turn off the headlights, but this also turns off the DRLS. You can turn on the parking lights, but this reduces the the DRLs during the day, and it does turn on the taillights.
No matter what you do, when the car senses night conditions, the dash display(s) dim from daylight. You can turn the brightness to max by turning the **** to the left of the steering column all the way to clockwise, but it won't ever make it as bright as if the car thinks it is still daylight.
To make MOST things work the way I want them to I turn the switch on and off fast with one hand while the other hits the start button.** Day time only**
No stupid lights going on in my garage and I have been driving since 1962 I will put on what lights when I want them! I do not normally use the DRLs. I started doing this with my 98 vert I got in April of 98 and still
3 Vettes later I do it my way I do not like all this nanny ch*t
