OK, here goes a really dump question. On my 2015 Z51 there is a toggle switch located on the right side of the deck release. It appears to have a lighting logo pic. What does this control??????
That will disable the motion sensor in the car. That way if you leave a pet or person in the car, they won't set off the alarm. It resets after you start the car again.
Intrusion and Inclination
Sensors Disable Switch
It is recommended that the intrusion
and inclination sensors be
deactivated if pets are left in the
vehicle or the vehicle is being
transported.
With the vehicle turned off, press off
to the right of the hatch/trunk
release button. The indicator light
will come on momentarily, indicating
that these sensors have been
disabled for the next alarm system
arming cycle.
Think of all of the other nuggets and tech wonders that are still hidden in that book waiting to be discovered..... I think I saw that someone has a thread going or was it a car mag article on undocumented finds for you to consider. Be aware that small variances exist between each model year.

You can say that again. I find little easter eggs quite often even though I read the manual.\ For example: Tap the turn signal up or down (rather than totally engaging it) to get 3 blinks to got left or right.

How many times are you going to lock your dog or the kids in the car and turn on the alarm? Just something else unnecessary to drain battery.
Don't forget, the car auto locks. I had my son in the car and got out to pick up a pizza with him still in the car. I forgot to mash the button, but that's one instance. I can think of lots of situations where it's a nice feature to have.
Certain models must not have this disable switch. Mine doesn't even though the manual states: With the vehicle turned off, press off to the right of the hatch/trunk release button.

1LT models don't have the motion sensor, so no need to switch it off.
