Brand new 2016, LT2, A8. Everything runs great but when I remote start the car, get in, put my foot on the brake, attempt to shift to R or D the shifter is locked in park. Can't get it to move unless I shut down and then restart. This can't be right, is it?

No, I'm not. Actually, though I've read the manual more than once, I don't remember seeing that. When you mentioned it, the first thing I thought of was the starter grinding as with a conventional system.

Kind of short but it is on pg. 9 para. 3 of the owners manual.

REDBULLIT explained it better.
I did read that and frankly, didn't understand it. They say to start the vehicle normally after entering it when it's already started. Lesson learned. What I don't understand in the manual, I'll have to learn here.

Look at it this way. Even with the Corvette running most people are not going to be able to figure out how to steal your car when you use remote start.

Also, without a keyfob present the car won't complete the start sequence, even if a thief knows how.
