The mods deleted all the threads where I posted all the connector part numbers, wiring hook up pin outs, and other useful information of camera research and I don't have a copy.

There is another forum member that is mounting a flush mount camera in the side lights. Perhaps that will work out better. He got a spare set of lights, and mocked it up but I don't think he bought a camera yet or installed them. One advantage of mounting them that way is perhaps those flush mounted cameras can be used on the new 360 Car View Systems that are hitting the market. They way I mounted mine cannot be used for those systems.

Here is a picture of how I mounted them.

If you want the other details, perhaps the MODs can recover the information from those threads for you. If not, sorry, I did not keep a copy.

Please note, I am looking for a set of stock fender vents as I will be ripping out these cameras if "The Vendor Who Shall Not be Named" fails to deliver as expected. Don't make the mistake I did and drill into valuable, PITA to replace body parts for a product that may never ship.

I believe this is the post from Flame Red that you are asking for:

For those of us interested in the side camera, I spent several hours and got the Pass side hooked up. A couple of key points:

1. It is totally unnecessary to remove the front side grille! Just remove the splash guard (1 screw), then the three torx screws that hold the wheel well on under the splash guard, then the three 7mm screws that hold the bottom plastic on, then one 10mm bolt that holds the bottom of the fender on. You can then pull out the bottom of the fender sufficiently to do all the work without any pain. On the pass side behind there is the ECM (or some computer) and the dry sump tank on Z51 cars. So removal is a PITA on Z51 & Z06 cars and not necessary.

2. I spent hours looking for the best way to mount the camera using a small TFT display to view various positions. The best view was when the camera was mounted under the mirror, but that is just too much work. I think tried every conceivable place on the vent to mount it. I would have preferred if it were more hidden, but this position gave the best picture. You can see the fender comes in at an angle and if you try other places the fender obscures too much.

3. Just drill the hole with the grille on. I used lots of blue painters tape to protect the paint from any scratches. No problem drilling. Go slow and steady so you don't crack the plastic or mess up the paint. Start the drill before you make contact and apply constant pressure but not too much so it won't bind.

4. You have to spend a lot of time playing with the angles to get an upright sight with the best picture. You also have to play with rotating the lens. When done, set the set screw. I had to use the maximum angle to avoid it pointing to the sky. You have to play with the rotation (3 axis) with the camera loose in the hole and remove the camera to get at the set screw then tighten the set screw check again and push it home once you are happy.

5. I put a couple of dabs of clear silicon to hold the camera on from underneath so it won't rotate or pop out. Not visible.

I used a Boyo VTK380HD - you need something that can rotate in three axis to get the angle right. A fixed camera will not line up right.

I already had pulled switch power and ground from the engine compartment fuse panel using a fuse tap.

Use this useful thread for more info about the fender: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/...post1589131870

I'll post more picture later after I complete the driver's side.

Blind spot elimination is a safety factor and should be added to Corvette. GM does not have to re-invent the wheel as several manufactures already have this technology added to their cars. Volvo for one has a great system. Camera is built into the side view mirrors and a small amber light comes on when a vehicle/motorcycle etc. enters field of view. Hardly noticeable. Think Ford F150 has the camera in the tail light. Just do it and prevent accidents.

For the 5VM side skirts, do you have to drill into the side of the car? Seems I read that somewhere.

Default Side cameras

Back when the nav tool became available I was in on that group buy as mentioned in a previous post. I mounted the cameras in the lower part of the side marker lights. If you go back and check out posts by Bromanelli in 2016
there’s pictures and a description of how they looked and worked. Until I sold the car they worked great. Completely took care of any blind spot . They were activated when the directionals came on and were virtually invisible otherwise.
I did some measurements. The lines on the camera have three distances. 14" 22" and 36 " from the marker light.
At 36" out from the marker light I have a 16ft viewing window. At 10 ft out from the marker light I have a 33 ft window. For lane changing this would help as the distance would be more than that and that window gets wider as you get further out. I did notice today that there is a slight orange halo around the view on the display and that is coming from the fact that I made the hole in the lens of the marker light the same diameter as the lens of the camera. Because the camera sits back from the face of the marker lens by .030 I guess you can see just a touch of it. At this point I am happy with it all.
See below.
