Car is parked right in front, but across the street (unusual, but my neighbors had a baby and have visitors today).
I go to leave, unlock my car, get the three honks, and then see the below picture.
The manual doesn't go into detail. Something happened, right? I don't see a thing wrong with the car, no handprints on the Windows, no sign of anyone bumping it. Nothing.
Any guesses? Should I expect to see this from time to time?
You should not see this unless your alarm has been activated. Could be the motion sensor - was your windows down? Anyone sticking their head or hands through to get a look at your interior would set it off.
I seen it last week at a stop at a gas station, on my way to San Antonio. I left my daughter in the car while I went inside, she opened the door and the alarm went off. Yes, she was not happy with me. The alarm set its self, I did not set it or lock the car. She shut the door (stayed inside the car) and waited for me to come out.

When you left the car the alarm automatically armed. Then when she moved the motion sensor picked it up or when she opened the door.
You can deactivate the motion sensor on the left lower side of the steering wheel. Don't ask me how I know
My radar detector fell. I was using 3M sticky tape to see where to position it (Blendmount doesn't have a mount for Uniden). Just caught my Uniden in the passenger foot well.
How did I leave it up there to start with? Chasing my 6 year old down when I saw her sprinting for her remote control vette heading for the street.

That could do it, I had the car parked in my garage with the window down and I had the passive locking/arming on. I opened the big garage door and a single leaf blew into the window and set the alarm off. - doesnt take much.
Check all the wheel lugs and make sure they are tight.
An elevation change (jacking the car) will set off the alarm.
Might have been after the wheels!
I actually did this to myself in the garage one morning, when I came out to do my oil change. Started jacking up the car, and got a few inches up, and it scared the crap out of me... it works well.
I've seen this happen when the radar detector suction cups fail and the unit falls off the windshield setting off the inside motion detector.....the alarm system is very sensitive
I get this message on my DIC almost once a month. Car is parked at work in a very secluded part of the lot. Horn beeps 3 times when I open the door. I use the FOB to lock the car and set it to open when I approach. Baffled! Been doing this for 1.5 years.

Time for an in car camera with motion sensing! (Do those even exist? lol)

This ^^^ Happened to me yesterday. I got out to fuel up. Wife stayed in car. She also has a key fob, so the car told me with beeps that "I" had left the key fob in the car. The car locked itself (one beep). I started to fill the tank and my wife opened the door. All hell broke loose. I got back in and fixed it, and then asked my wife, "Are you going to open the door again?"

Can definitely do it. I got the same message while my C7 was up on our lift with the windows down - I threw my hat up and in through the open window and then got the motion alarm and my wife laughed at me. Glad I was able to provide some entertainment. I got her back by not shutting the motion sensor off while she stayed in the car at a gas station. She set it off. But that one back fired on me too. Can't win. :-)
