Default It may finally be time to pull the trigger!

Hi guys! I'm brand new to the forum.

I'll finally be retiring this spring and finally be getting my life long dream Corvette.

I've been quietly watching this forum for the last few months and now I'm ready to order but I wanted ask some questions.

I want to do a Museum Delivery in June but I don't know when I would have to place my order to time it right. To make thing harder, I want a Laguna Blue Z51 coupe unless I break down and go to a Z06.

I'm guessing that the Z06 would probably be easier to get because everyone says the Z51 is harder to get which I really don't get.

I'm pretty sure I'll order from a forum dealer. After reading here I don't know if it's even worth attempting to pull off a timed museum delivery with my local dealer.

What discounts should I be looking for on a Z51 irder vs a Z06?

Bob, I live across the Bay from you and ordered a new convertible from Jim Ellis Chev in Atlanta. Their pricing was better and their out the door was lower than anything I could find locally.

There is a Laguna Blue Z06 (2015) at Autonation Chev Clearwater with only 2400 miles on it. It was the first Corvette I considered but their pricing of almost 84K was way out of line last December. They still have that car on the lot (and it has been there for more than four months). Their current price is around 77K but the car is probably worth about 75K.

If you want a new car, try any of the forum dealers who discount their cars and make them very attractive to purchase. Since you would want a museum delivery, it does not matter where you place your order. Be aware that the Florida DMV surcharges an out of state "imported" car $420.00 to be registered here.

If I can help or answer any questions, let me know.

A June delivery is right during the changeover from 16's to 17's. You'd be buying a 17, which is good. If I were you, I would contact a forum dealer of your choice and talk to them about when you should put your order in. They'll have all the dates and will have the best guess to make your delivery timeline. Pricing won't be ready, but I would guess it won't be a major change from 2016's. Laguna Blue is gone, but I'm pretty sure they'll have some sort of blue in their line up.

Constraints will be different for 2017, so you won't know that right away. Any of the forum dealers can help you set this up. I would pick one that would be a fun road trip back to break the car in. Kerbeck in Atlantic City, or if you're ambitious, Fichtner in Montana would be an awesome road trip back to Florida. Good luck!

Edit: doh! Museum delivery is awesome too, I did that, totally worth it. Yay reading comprehension!

Actually, he's probably looking at 2016. They will be making the 2016s into the 3rd or 4th week of June and a Museum Delivery will be built at least 2 weeks before the pick up so you are probably looking at a May build.

We can order Laguna Blue into April but I would probably order the car in late March so it gets into the April allocation so it's built in May and you can get it in June!

The only downfall is, depending on what week in June you want to pick it up, the factory could be closed so you wouldn't get a plant tour. I would call Shane at the Museum (800-538-3883) and ask him if there are any weeks in June where you wouldn't get a plant tour with your Museum Delivery.

Dave didn't mention it but I am sure he will have no problem getting you a Z51 package.

I've seen that car, but I really want a new one with Museum Delivery. Plus, I don't think I want to be the second owner of a 1st year Z06. It was probably beat to death.

Thanks Dave! I'll be sending you a list of options for a price quote. Are there any constraints I need to worry about?

I would recommend the Buyers Tour also. You get to watch them build your car from start to finish. I did it in October and it is awesome. Unfortunantly to do both Museum delivery and Buyers Tour you have to go to Bowling Green twice. Its around 800.00 and well worth it. I have done Museum delivery twice before and it is awesome too. But on my C7 I chose only to do the buyers tour. They also have a photo Album where you get a nice leather bound book of the build of your car.
