I've always brought my Corvettes to the dealer for service, even after my warranty has expired. When it's time to sell the car, I offer to show the prospective customer all my maintenance records. However I know that a lot of forum members service their own cars, doing oil changes, brake jobs, etc. to the extent of their ability.
I wonder whether the fact that there is no record of that maintenance work in any Chevy computer might cause a problem down the road, if warranty work is needed.

I do all my own service. I save the receipts for the oil & filters, and reset the oil life monitor. This way the job gets done right, with the right oil and filters. If and when I decide to sell the car, I will have the records.

Many owners do the same, but do you think that is enough should a warranty related issue come up. Would GM be satisfied with your word and records is I believe what the Op was asking.

Even though I have all my newer vehicles serviced at the dealer, not once when trading a car in did they care about the maintence records. I dont sell cars privately. Too many possible complications and time commitments that I don't have.

I didn't buy my C7 to worry about resale. I guess keeping all the records is a good idea but I have never really worried about it.

If you take good care of your car the buyer will be able to tell. I've never had a buyer, private or dealer, ask to see records. I keep all of my maintenance records on line and in the glove box in a little notepad. It stays with it when sold.

I would think that in order to turn down warranty work the dealer would have to PROVE that you failed to maintain it. Any competent mechanic could tell if it's been ignored.

Maintenance records for my aircraft, that's a different story.

I do a lot of the routine maintenance myself and I always keep the sales receipts for the parts and make notes on them with date, mileage, etc. for my records. Then when I sell a car, I have a record of what was done. To keep the recordkeeping easy, I will tape the receipts to a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 printer paper and put it in a notebook.

Of course the dealer doesn't care about your maintenance records when trading a car;with or without records they will offer you the same lowball price. However my original question has not been answered. Will the lack of dealer's computerized maintenance records be sufficient cause to deny warranty work?

No. They must PROVE that you did not perform regular maintenance. The burden of proof is on the dealer/manufacturer.

There's nothing in the warrantee booklet about GM doing the oil changes or any other maintenance on the car, to maintain your warrantee coverage. It simply states, it must be maintained properly. If there is any question at this point, read the warrantee booklet cover to cover. You could also call your service rep and check with them.
