I think that's the Carbon Flash option in place of the regular "chrome retainer bar" in the center of the grille. I'm sure someone who knows for sure will chime in tonight.
The black grill bar, instead of chrome, comes when you order the carbon flash badges. I don't believe it's available separately. Since this option is listed under "Performance," my guess is that it's the Z06 grill, which provides better cooling than the Stingray grill.
That's only a guess, though, as I haven't seen that Chevy was going to offer that outside the performance parts catalog.
Actually, thinking more about it, I don't think it can be the Z06 grill. That costs a lot more than $325, and they refer to this option as an "insert." This is new to me, and I have no clue.

That would be exciting! I heard rumors that since it was such a popular mod that GM may allow us to order the car from factory with the z06 grill for the 2017. Hopefully that is true.

So it's a Cyber gray piece that somehow fits behind the stock Stingray grill and interferes with the brake ducts on a Z51. There's a picture, but I can't really figure out what is actually different. Is it the vertical bars?

This is making less sense now. I went back to build site and its $325 on an 1LT and Z51 1LT but $550 on all other models. Why is it $550 on a 2LT non Z51? Is the stock grill on a 2LT different than on a 1LT?

Maybe because of the cameras that are available on the 2 and 3LTs, which would indicate that it is a different grille.

That makes sense. Is still seems unclear as to what grill this is. I would like to get the Z06 grille on my build from the factory. It doesn't seem likely that this " grille insert" is the answer.

If it is the Z06 grille, it would be a popular option.
that maybe a forum dealer would know as they may have ordered a car or several with this optional grille.
