Track timer in Track mode

Track timer in Track mode
Anyone who usually runs in "track" and uses the timer I could use some help.
I'm looking thru the 2016 manual and thought I had it figured out but I'm still confused (imagine that right LOLOLOL)
I cant seem to reset it or consistently start and stop it. Using it in other mode's seems like I got that down ok.
I know I should do more manual investigation but if someone has some advice I would very appreciative (that's a big word I tried to spell so hope I got it right,lol)
