I just thought I'd share a great experience I've had with this amazing app called TrackAddict. The FREE version records only 3 sessions and its only $9 for the full app. It takes excellent video (your choice of resolutions), automatically records all lap times (even points out the best), and displays video with your choice of overlays which show speed, lap time, lap number, track position and g forces. You can export entire video or just the laps you choose. Buy third party add-ons to record full suite of car data such as braking/throttle, rpm, gear (those attach to the OBD port and cost about $80-120). You can also buy an add-on GPS receiver for more accurate track display. I'm running it without any add-ons and it's great.
I use the Garmin VirbX camera, with a OBD2 Bluetooth dongle from Amazon. Super easy to edit, and lots of options for data display. Track layout, speed, engine data, etc. I just stick it to the windshield with a vacuum mount on the passenger side of the rear view mirror, flip the switch, and let it run. When I am done, I flip the switch, plug it into the laptop, and click download. Once saved, I delete the video off the VirbX. One thing I learned...buy fast SD cards. I use Samsung 32gig Pro micro SD cards for about $25 - the "silver" cards from Amazon.
