I hate to have things slide around in the trunk area. I made a very simple solution with 3/4" x 3/4" wood with velcro attached. First I cut two pieces of wood 8" and 16" in length, painted them black, then glued three pieces of Velcro on them. Only two pieces are needed because you place the item to be held against one side of the trunk. To remove the sticks, roll them instead of lifting because that pulls up on the carpet.
But, why bud? Really? Couldn't it be a 12 pack,of stone since you live down the street? BTW, if you haven't been to the Stone brewery, you gotta go. Get the wild boar ribs.

FWIW, I use a device purchased at Bed Bath and Beyond for ~$10 that is also held down with Velcro. Made some wooden partitions that help separate groceries etc.
