Anybody can push the reset button maker average miles per gallon or their instant miles per gallon read pretty much a number that they want. But take a picture of this shows your actual fuel used for your actual mileage. This puts my macho just under 13 MPG
I'm not sure if this is directed at me but I feel the need to clarify myself.
I guess someone could sorta manipulate the numbers but it isn't easy to rack up high mileage over a 50 mile run. Try it and show your results. I got it, like I mentioned, driving downhill at the Continental Divide. And I've never reset this number cuz I already had 33.1 mpg and thought that was pretty darn good and wanted to keep it there for bragging purposes. I honestly earned the 41.6 though I admit it was a mostly downhill run. Others have posted greater than this in other threads months ago. Here is my lifetime fuel usage with total miles driven. It figures out to 26.34 mpg. Not bad for a 460 hp car. Yours figures to be 12.87 mpg. Been enjoying the power, huh? Mine would be better still if I didn't enjoy hearing the NPP so often. Did I mention I have '15 base coupe with A8? Gearing is different than Z51 and Z06 adding to greater mileage under the same conditions. (Update) After some deeper thoughts on the 50 mile numbers I realized it doesn't matter one bit if you reset the numbers because the average is the LAST 50 miles without regard to the previous thousands you might have driven. Reset or not you'd have the same average.
Here's my lifetime hours and revs, just for kicks.

Reason: clarification
Thanks for posting that information. There's some interesting facts shown here. Similar mileage overall with very different stats behind them. I'm a moderate driver, as you may suspect by my mileage results, and not claiming anything about that, just observing. You, Jaden, seem to be a spirited driver, and nothing wrong with that either. I'm all for each enjoying his Vette to his own desires without finding fault. I find it interesting the differences in hours driven and revs made. As well as fuel used and overall mileage. Spirited stats verses "old man" stats. I had to call myself out on that one. Yeah, I bought a C7 for its looks and because I've always liked Vettes, not because I wanted to be the baddest boy on my block. I already have that stat with my C4. Enjoy the California sun and that Vette you have! Its all good.
I own 2 Vettes, 88 & 2015, both automatics. The 2015 is my DD and my round trip to and from work is 52 miles. Due to traffic I drive on different roads that have different speed limits. The 2015 gets an average of 24 mpg. If I drive my 88 instead of the 2015 I get 18 mpg. If you calculate the difference in the price of premium gas vs. regular, which can run as little as 30 cent or as high as 45 cents, the cost comes out close to the same. If the 2015 was made to run on regular, we could really brag.
But I love that extra 195 horse power.
I was not calling anybody out. I was just saying those average miles per gallon are easy to manipulate. Here are three consecutive pictures of my best fuel mileage 25 mile 50 mile and 400 mile. These pictures were just now taken at the same time, you can verify that by the mileage. Why would they not read the same?
I think I know how this system works. Lets start with a brand new car and use a 50 mile run. I'll drive first and drive mile #1, #2, ....... #49, #50. At this point the computer calculates the average and this becomes the new 50 mile best. Now I drive mile #51, mile #1 becomes irrelevant because its not in the 50 mile run anymore. The computer does another calculation with the #51 in and #1 out. If this is better than the first calculation the "best" is updated. If not, its discarded and the first calculation is kept. This continues with mile #52, #2 is thrown out and calculations are done again, and again its compared with the existing 50 best. If its better the "best" is updated, if not the calculation is discarded. This goes on for every mile I drive, always calculating the last 50 in a run. (shutdowns and restarts don't matter) Let's say I was driving and I babied it for, say 30 mpg as my best 50. Now you drive it. Being a man who likes his power you don't get better than my fifty but you do log miles in the 400 mile run. The car hasn't yet reached 400 miles so no update is made and the best 400 is still "0". You continue to drive and finally reach 400 miles. You had a great time with the horsepower and at the 400 mile mark the computer calculates the average and comes up with only 20 mpg. My best 50 is still in the computer because all those miles you drove didn't increase that value and it can't decrease it either because its the "best 50". The "best 400" is a combination of my miles and yours, the car only has 400 miles at this point, remember. You continue to drive and mile after mile my miles drop off until you reach 452 miles, or how ever many I drove plus your 400 miles, until the last 400 miles are all yours. The average will likely drop more, due to your spirited driving, so no further updates to the "best 400" will occur. Your best 400 will remain a combination of both our driving, until it is reset by a driver.
Same with the 25 mile run, it depends on how it was driven to get that best 25. How did I do?
Very cool. No wonder you don't get the kinda mileage I get, you drive a beast! Do you refer to it as a she? Or is it the Stud, the Bull of the woods, the **** of the walk?
Just viewed your album, damn that's a nice car!

Reason: correct spelling/grammer
My best fifty mile ave is 28.9
I was told that z's won't get over 29 due to lower gear ratio but that on base mods many get real world over 33 on long flats
You are saying that your C7Z got almost 29MPG? Is it an A8 or M7? Which ones get better gas mileage?
My lifetime MPG is 15 mpg.....pretty bad for a base C7!
San Diego has lots of 2-3 minute long traffic lights which absolutely kills the fuel economy.
Wish it had start-stop fuel saving feature.

The Z06 A8 is geared the same as the base C7 and is geared higher than the Z51. The Z06 M7 is geared slightly lower than the base C7 and slightly higher than the Z51.
You need to identify which "Z" you are taking about as there are two different "Z's". the Z51 and the Z06.
On a road trip of over 2,400 miles a 2014 Z51 M7 averaged 29.7 MPG whereas my C6 Z06 M6 averaged 28.5 for the same trip. His 7th gear ratio is .48:1 whereas my final gear ratio is .50:1.
On a road trip of over 3,400 miles, a 2015 Z06 A8 averaged 24.0 MPG whereas my C6 Z06 M6 averaged 29.2 for the same trip. His final gear ratio(in 8th gear) is 1.57:1, whereas my final gear ratio(in 6th gear) is 1.71:1.
Drove 200 miles yesterday with Range Technology device plugged in keeping it in V8 mode and getting 27.9 mpg with some in-town driving.
Drove back the same route without the Range Technology device in and got right at 30 mpg. Surprised that without the device, the mileage difference was so little.
To most of us, that 2.1 MPG difference isn't that important( but on a long road trip, the gas savings will add up. On a 5,300 mile trip, almost 3/4 of a tank), but to GM's CAFE, 2.1 MPG is VERY important, as GM gets fined for not meeting the CAFE requirements.
In the grand scheme of things, 3/4 of a tank of gas isn't that big a deal, but it will buy a nice steak dinner instead of a McDonalds one evening on that road trip.
