Jacking pucks
Question is, is this really necessary ? Every other car I've had and needed to jack it up I just do it in the area where I'm suppose to, why any different with a corvette ?

Just left this message on another tread where the person had a cracked rocker panel! Not easy to replace, best just to repair. This is what I posted:
Got my C7 in October 2013. GM requested I bring it back to have the differential fluid level checked. I had jack pads as I did for my C6 and when I brought the car in for service asked the gal who schedules maintenance to be sure they use my 4 jack pads that I left on the passenger seat.
Knew her from my C6 and was always impressed with her knowledge. She said, "Don't worry I will be sure they use our drive on alignment rack and not our center post lifts," (of which they have ~12 versus one drive on alignment rack.) She continued and said, "We just cracked a Vette rocker panel and had to repair it!"
She also brought me into the repair bay, introduced me to the recently C7 trained Vette mechanic who let me watch as he checked the fluid level (it was fine.)
I have NOT had to bring my C7 back to the dealer since, I do my own oil changes etc. If I do bring it to the car dealer or a tire shop, I will emphasize the need to use my four, 2 inch high jack pads (needed to clear my carbon fiber side skirts.)
In fact wish I had purchased the Reverse Logic jack pads that can be temporarily bolted in place so I don't have to "hope" the mechanic will follow my request to install mine! FWIW
One other note re the size. Hockey pucks and the aluminum ones I had for my C6 were 3 inches in diameter. GM says for the C7 to make them max 2 1/2 inches. I found the rocker panels on a C7 are closer to the shipping slots where they fit! If you make them from hockey pucks AND use eye hooks you probably can shift them over so they won't hit the rocker panels. Have to hope the dealer service folks do the same! However if buying them they are available with the proper diameter, like those from Reverse Logic.
This is a PDF of my install with lots of pics, if interested: http://netwelding.com/Jacking_pads.pdf

Perhaps more important to me is having pucks for a dealer or tire shop to use. Many either don't have them or don't take the time to use them. Cracked rocker panels can't easily be replaced; a bondo type repair is probably best but not desired!

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
They work great and no need to worry about the dealer using them! However with my vertically contoured Carbon Fiber Side Skirts I need the 2 inch high ones to be sure if a center lift is used the lift pads don't hit my skirts. They also help clear my jacks.
