I have the stock chrome wheels on my base 2015. There are areas on the wheels that looks like the chrome has spots on it or is thin. Polishing helped but not completely . Is this normal. Thanks
If there are spots that look like the chrome is thin take the car to the dealer because it means the chrome was applied wrong. The GM rep should see them and you should get a new set. Good luck.

for what the chrome wheels cost, no reason to accept ones that may be poorly chromed. Let the dealer look at them and see if they will replace them if found defective.
You are right to question and take back to dealer. My last two Corvettes had chrome wheels and no issues whatsoever, the current car is 2014 C7 and former a 2001. I had the 01 for 13 years and not a single blemish on the chrome wheels.
This is a picture of my new Red Vet 300 miles on it. The chrome looks like a used wheel. They all look like this. I have seen this on old chrome wheels but my car just sat in the showroom in OK for 2 months.
Should I demand new wheels when I go in for my 500 mile oil change.

That looks a lot like mine, kinda llike water spots but looks like it in the chrome. Polishing did help some.

I have Chrome on My Porsche 86 Cab done by Al Read the top wheel re finisher in the greater Los Angeles area. My wheels after several years do not look like that. Now that car is a garage queen but still the vet is brand new.
My 86 Carrera Con. 69,000 miles 220 Horse Power. No rocket but pretty
My 2014 chromes look like new after two years and 10k, so doesn't sound normal to me. Just make sure it isn't just stubborn brake dust, as those dots are sort of what I get sometimes on the calipers, and it polishes off with NuFinish, which is what I use on the wheels.
Found this old thread about Chrome vs Silver Painted C7 wheels...
About ready to order our 2019 Arctic White/Adrenaline Red Convertible. Our 2000 Torch Red/Oak C5 Convertible has polished aluminum factory wheels instead of the stock silver painted wheels and it really sets the car off.
The C7 2LT standard is silver painted wheels but we really like the chrome one's. (Actually the "chrome" is a bit too shiny for us, the polished aluminum of our C5 is just right...)
$2000 is a bit steep for chrome factory wheels instead of the stock silver painted wheels.
Haven't started to "deal" yet with the dealers. (I am really surprised at how unmotivated these sales people are to get back to me with a quote!!!).
Anyone know what the dealer markup is on factory ordered (with the car order) chrome wheels?

didn't say what kind of vette, but those black spots remind me of the etching that Brembo brake dust, left on the chrome wheels of my C6 Z06 and C6 GS too long, had developed. Don't have chrome wheels on my c7, so didn't keep the thread, but there was a thread on the forum about using aluminum foil on the chrome wheels to remove the etched dust.
