Default Well that was close :(

Tonight on my way home a 4x4 almost smashed my C7. I moved just as I saw him about to hit me. Why the F do people drive like this??

Thankfully you were watching and avoided the accident. I've found many people want to show off around a Corvette. The other day an idiot on a chopped Harley (most are responsible drivers) blew past me so close his handlebars almost clipped my mirror. I consider it a sure sign they think a Corvette is very cool, you don't show off for a Prius.

It looks like you may've scraped your wheels. That would really be a shame---hope it didn't happen tho.

I did. Both front and back have gouges in them. Front tire has hanging shredded pieces. Back one isn't as bad but is still messed up. I'm more worried about my alignment and suspension after hitting the curb and then dropping back off at that speed.

Do you have the plate information from the video? If yes - go for restitution from the truck driver. Sorry this happened to you - I am an avid bicyclist and getting "assaulted" by trucks has become all too common. It's amazing how well you can predict the behavior of the driver based on the appearance of the truck - the stance of that truck with the stupid wheel offset suggests "moron" driver in my book.

Glad you did not have contact with the idiot. There are boat loads of them on the roads, doesn't seem to matter what state you are in, they'er just everywhere. Of course it doesn't help that it is the me generation that has them.
Hopefully the repair to your car is an easy fix. As you have the PDR video I would go after the dolt, as he is at fault for the damage to your car. Check with you local LEO's and see what is the best way to approach this, hopefully you won't have to hire an attorney.

Happens to me too.
Comment: It seems worse with the C7 than the C5.

I have found that driver IQ is inversely proportionate to ride Height.
Glad you are OK, the wheels and alignment can be fixed.

Actually, the IQ is inversely proportional to the diameter of the diesel truck exhaust pipe. BONUS "IQ decrement" points if the exhaust exits vertically behind the truck cab!!!!

I abbsolutely believe this to be a truth as well. Just this morning, I had an adorable little kid in the backseat of his Dad's 'new to him' (paper tag indicated a 2014) Infiniti Q50. The kid was gawking over my car and kept trying to get his Dad to look over so what does Dad do? He gets jealous that his kid is giving more attention to my car instead of his and speeds off doing 60+ in a 35 - yes, with his kid in the car. I'm sorry that my driving my 460hp sports car normally made him feel inferior with his 325hp sedan but congrats on the AWD I guess?

OP, I'm so sorry this happened to you and caused damage to your vehicle. I would definitely see if you can get the license plate and call it into the cops to see if there is anything they can do. Unfortunately, I don't believe that they will be able to hold the registered owner of that vehicle accountable since no one can prove that they were in fact the party driving the truck at that time. I too would be concerned about alignment - take it to a shop, get an estimate, and if you need to, pay your deductible to get everything fixed up and back in shape.

I always speed up to close the gap between myself and the car in the next lane over so people can't cut me off like this. I feel like I drive like an ******* sometimes but it's really just in defense of other people to avoid their idiocy. Don't even get me started on cell phone users!

There are a lot of people who want to show off around a Corvette and even more that are just plain stupid. My wife chides me at times & says I drive like an old man but what I really do is drive way more defensively while in my Vette for the exact reasons mentioned in this thread. If I have to spank some knucklehead I will, but more often I just try to avoid them. Remember, a lot of people out there really don't have a clue how to drive.

It didn't look accidental to me.It looked like he intended to do it.I have seen it quite A bit.A person sees someone with an exotic or high priced car they want to cause A little misery.
Most people are excited for you, some are envious.I'm no head doctor, just my opinion.
