Default Active handling question

In my old c5 z06 I used AH to allow the car to slide a bit. It was a great way to learn the limits of the car safely. With the new c7 (z51, mag), what is the equivalent mode to be in, track (double click the button)? I'm also wondering which of the modes allows for the most degree of power slide angle without completely disabling the safety features of a massive oversteer condition (i.e. Spin out). 😀 Do the track subsystem modes allow for varying degrees of slide/car angle before kicking in, or do they all allow the same angle?

I've seen the mode charts people post, but I'm just wondering in a more laymans way: which mode lets you power slide, which mode is closest to the old c5z06 (my personal baseline), and are the modes allowing for different sustained slide angles?

PTM is tool to help you control the car using the eLSD to control the car without Sliding in Sport 1 or Sport 2, if your intent is to Slide then go to Mode 5 all nannies are off. Just for reference at Spring Mountain instructors have students go to Sport 1 or 2. Overall the Z51 with Mag ride is a completely different animal than a C5 Z with AH. You just have to play with it on the track to see what your preference is.

So what I loved about the old car is the ability to have a bit of a safety blanket should the tail get out a bit too far. Is there no setting on my new car that will allow me to slide a bit before kicking in traction control and correcting the car?!? Its all or nothing!?

Based on the chart here https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...rack-mode.html Dry and Sport 1 modes under Track set the stability controls to a competition mode and they have different traction control settings. From the description it sounds like that might give you what you are looking for.

Ah, I see. Ok I'll try that. "competition mode" is what it was called on the c5z06..

On a side note, does the eLsd do something to the cornering in track mode? I have been driving exclusively in sport mode the last few hundred miles and I tried track in a spirited session and I felt like the turn in was quite different. Maybe it was placebo effect, but it seemed like the car wanted to turn in and rotate a bit better - reminded me of the 911s and how they just sort of fall into the corners.
