C7 Cupholders (terrible)
The C7 cup holders in the console are as close to useless as can be. The are too short for many "go cups" such as the starbucks ones we use. The coffee flops over because most of the cup is above the cupholder making it top heavy. The inserts also come out frequently.
Both myself and my wife have had coffee spill recently.
Has anyone heard of an aftermarket solution for this like a liner that protrudes above the cup holder.
Any other idea?

Bottled water holder only in my car. And wrap a napkin around the bottom of it!
You bring coffee in my car, I'll kill you. You bring stinky *** soft drink in my car, I'll kill you. You bring food in my car....you get the drift.
Enjoy your tasty food and beverage, but not in my car!
I'm weird that way, but when you get into my car years down the line, it will still smell nice, almost like a new car.

I agree, they aren't the best design in the world. I've stopped to wipe up coffee a couple of times also. And I've only had mine for two weeks, so I'd better keep some napkins in the glove box. I haven't seen any alternatives though.

Its a matter of finding cups that fit and work well in the holder.
For coffee, a 12oz Nissan Stainless tumbler with a thin neoprene type koozie on it works very secure and has a low enough center of gravity that it does not tip or spill.
I am sure there are many others but for my morning coffee on the way to work, that is what I use every day.

^^^ I don't have the center divider like your picture shows.
My car was delivered to me new from the museum.
Thanks for posting the picture.

Reminds me of the Datsun 240-z ad... that said... NO CUP Holders..
I think they should be a delete option as part of Z-51 because everything will spill at 1.03 lateral g.
They are not great, but maybe GM should have a factory option for Non Z-51 cars that have a special cup holder that magnetically attaches to the cup holders....

I got the aftermarket ones from RPI:

I got a couple of mini mugzie cups from the museum too:

They're both kinda lousy solutions though. Oh well.

My Ferrari doesn't have cup holders.
The ones in my C7 work fine.... 24,000 miles and climbing....

The center divider is removeable. It could be in his bag of stuff from the museum, or maybe they forgot to put it back after the PDI.

I noticed this morning , the cup holders are very shallow and do not snugly hold a coffee cup. I would think a rubber or neoprene band which grips the cup is the answer. I hope someone finds something and posts it

You want a cupholder story, here's one. I had a SL-500 that I bought back east and drove cross country with it. The cupholders are spring-loaded into the center console dash right by the HVAC controls. One morning somewhere in Kentucky my wife got me a styrofoam cup of coffee. I popped out the cupholder and stuck the cup in there for the first time. It was a few minutes before we left the motel and when I retrieved the cup it was nearly empty.
"Where'd the coffee go?" I asked. My wife said, "It was full when I gave it to you!"
Turns out one of the springs in this "spring loaded" design had broken and was sticking out. When I put the cup in the holder it ripped a hole on the back side of the cup which I did not see. All the coffee ran down into the mass of wires that controlled the entire HVAC system: fans, motors, heat, A/C--everything. It all shorted out.
So I drove 4,000 miles across country without any of it, through the blistering hot Texas sun and an Arizona downpour with no defroster. Several thousand dollars later it worked again. The Mercedes dealer told me, "This isn't the first time we've seen this.'
Just another story in my new book, "The Car from Hell."*
*Not really!

^^^ One very expensive cup of coffee that you did not even get a sip of.

Hmmm. I wonder if a simple replacement divider made of a material that is somewhat more "grippy", and perhaps a smaller circumference, might improve things. Maybe modeled after the size of cups that Starbucks uses.
Currently I use a device to wedge the cup in a little more tightly, but that is admittedly a poor and temporary solution.
Maybe the aftermarket will provide an answer.

I have been using my water bottle I use on bike rides. It's plastic, double wall insulated, spill proof top, and fits snugly in the C7 cup holder. Camelbak Podium Chill, 21 oz.
