Default Captain McFunk's Torch Red Build Thread

Hey everyone,

I've recently just purchased a 2015 Torch Red C7, and i'm really enjoying it. my previous car was a CTS-V (i've had 3 of them now), so I was ready for something different. I wanted to start a build thread to keep track of my progress, as it doesn't seem like there is a section for this on this forum (please move/let me know if there is, mods!)

Anyways, without further, my 2015 1LT Torch Red:

The day I purchased, 4/6/16

That night, i began blacking out the chrome (i hate chrome on my cars) -- and I debadged the 'corvette" on the rear for a clean look:

Yesterday, I lowered her on stock bolts all the way, i dont have a picture yet, but i'll take one today when i clean her up from all the pollen! UGH!

I've already ordered the GM stage 1 front splitter that i'm going to wrap in VVivid carbon fiber vinyl. i also ordered 19/20 XO Verona wheels from Jon @ BestWheelDeals (my go to vendor for wheels), so those should be here soon. Also ordered a black Z51 spoiler, so that should be coming next week also. GTX side skirts will be next, along with Borla X-pipe and some form of headers I'll more than likely do the roof in gloss black just like the Vibe Motorsports Torch Red Vette here. i just LOVE the look of this one in particular:

Mod List:
Blacked out emblems
Corvette badge delete
lowered on stock bolts
Z06 GRILLE INSTALLATION - POST #16 -- 04/13/16
XO VERONA WHEELS 19/20 - POST #21 -- 04/14/16
GM Z06 STAGE 1 FRONT SPLITTER -- 04/14/16
BORLA CATLESS XPIPE -- 04/14/16

Thanks guys!

Pretty brave using a rattle can to paint on your new Vette. I would be concerned about the overspray.

It's just plastidip, so that's a moot point. if you haven't tried it, give it a shot. it's awesome for quick blackout jobs and last a very long time, while laying down very smooth.

Here is the car in pieces last night installing the z06 grille. it took a total of 2 hours from start to finish solo to remove the stock bumper, replace the grille, and reinstall everything -- piece of cake with the video from youtube of the yellow stingray.

Wheels will be here this afternoon, and the Borla X pipe is waiting at my house as we speak

What did you use to black out the tail light?

Let me know how the x-pipe goes. I have mine sitting in the garage as well, waiting for nice weather to do the install.

Well, this install was fun doing solo haha! Everything was easy, EXCEPT the instructions were not clear at all regarding how the front flanges attach to the xpipe. i spent about 45 minutes trying to pry the two pipes together, only to go watch the Corsa install video, and realize the hardware provided has to go DOWNSTREAM, IE, the bolts need to go into the flange from the stock header/cat side, NOT the xpipe side, then they synch up like breeze. a little frustrating, but other than that, perfect. i should have a video today or tomorrow. it's literally been raining for about 6 days straight here in Arkansas.
