Everyone that sees my DSOM just loves the colour. The problem is that most dealers won't inventory this colour or other more unique colors because they fear that they will be stuck with a colour nobody wants so they rely on the basic BLACK,RED,WHITE because those are SAFE colours. Any most people won't order DSOM from the catalouge because it doesn't really show well. Only people who have actually seen it or are familiar with it, will make the plunge... I look at it as being ultra rare and desireable !
It's not red, blue, black, grey or white. Limited market
Also, from what I understand most manufacturers introduce colors that they expect to run for a year or two, then change to something new. This helps maintain interest in the vehicle, gives something fresh for the buyers who want a unique vehicle.
I don't believe they dropped it because there wasn't interest. I believe they dropped it because like the C6 DSOM the color changed too much between batches and didn't match. Couple that with a the massive Orange Peel that it shows, along with the new paint shop at Bowling Green it may of not been a color that they could use to get to the new higher standards of no Orange Peel and consistent color. Just my opinion and no real evidence of facts. Just SOTP feeling.
They stopped making Night Race Blue. It didn't sell well. I love the idea. My rare color sets my car apart from the others. People ask me " What color is that"? It is not a bad thing to drop a color in my opinion.
For years now GM has always played with the blue colors and played around with Orange, Purple and Greens. They never seem to keep one shade more than 2-3 years even if they sell fairly well.
I'm glad they discontinued Laguna Blue. That means there will be less of them on the road which will make mine more desirable down the road, plus it means i will have something that everyone else does not have!

I loved the Lime Rock Green. By the time I was ready to buy, they had gotten rid of that color. Very low sales volume.
DSOM was my favorite color on the old Gen 4 f-bodies. Great color on the C7 too. My C6 was Atomic Orange but prefer the more subdue tone of DSOM.
Last Sunday at a little C & C here at the mall I spotted a C-7 at the end of the row, I walked to it like a bug to a flame, lime rock green and it looked absolutely stunning sitting in the bright morning sun, black wheels and all.
Both me and the wife thought WOW, that is one beautiful color, make a hellofa hot rod color also.

That would account for the changes to gray. Cyber Gray was dropped after one year. It was fourth most popular color accounting for 11% of sales in 2014. Shark Gray will be dropped after 2016 MY. It too ranked fourth in sales during 2015. So low sales volume isn't always the cause for a change.
