Why bother with the Z51? Because the Z51 is 5K cheaper! Base pricing appears lower than the same 2016, at least for the base convertible. Just rechecked on the Chevy build your own site. A 2017 stickers for $5,000 more than what my 2014 did. (same options)

Hmmmmm...my guess is the 2017 Stingray Z51 may experience discounting, the Grand Sport will not (at least intitially). Hence, the Stingray Z51 will be less expensive than your calculation above. Again, IMO, educated or maybe not so educated guess

Conclusion on price difference between GS vs Z51: $1700.00 However, this is WITHOUT taking into considerations any discounts. I suspect the only way GM will be able to sell Z51s is by heavily discounting it... Otherwise, anyone with half a brain knows that the GS deal is "better bang for your buck." Also, 1 more thing to point out.... Still no word on Winter Tires/All Season Tires for Z06/GS sizes; could be an issue for those who require them as a DD car.
Starting Price:
Stingray Coupe with Z51 - $60,450
Grand Sport Coupe- $65,450
However, the GS also comes standard with:
MSRC (1795$ option)
Z06 Grill (400$ trunk monkey + 305$ install cost)
Side skirts (500$ + 140$ install cost)
front splitter (105$ + 70$ install cost)
Note: Installation prices per Dina of Criswell Chevrolet.
