Thought I would share my experience with the OEMAutoParts NAV upgrade. My 2015 C7 LT1 Z51 did not come with factory navigation, just the cloud-based (start on your phone and push to the car) version. I have been on the fence for a while and I know we don’t buy these cars for electronics but they are nice to have so I spent a couple bucks.
For anyone wanting to go this route, I would recommend making sure you have the correct tools and time to do it right. Also, do your homework on actual component placement, the videos on the OEM site are not accurate regarding GPS antenna placement nor the requirement to swap out the XM Tuner module located in the passenger floorboard behind the BCM module flush against the firewall (that was a major pain point that took a long time to achieve). Heads up, there are 3, 10mm nuts to remove the plastic housing for the BCM/XM module, two of them are tucked way up behind the AC damper door housing, very tough to get to.
The directions that were supplied were ok but could use improvements regarding the XM module location. Overall, everything went smooth, CarPlay and Android Auto work great. The new NG 2.5 HMI from Bosch is much faster responding to touch than the 2.0 hardware. The one thing I don’t like is that the USB/SD card slot plug in the console gets swapped out for a new USB unit and you lose the SD card function. Not a big deal but nice to leave that in the car for music rather than using the storage on phone.
The components that came with the order were a new HMI, a new XM Module, a GPS antenna splitter and cables and a new USB module for the console.
Even though the unit came activated, XM use only lasted 1 day, I had to call XM and give them the new radio ID, only took 10 minutes. The XM dealer activation number is 888-465-8528, just tell them you had to swap out the hardware, give them the new ID (found on channel 0) and you are good to go.
I had a similar experience, without the XM issues. The HMI unit is a breeze to put in. I actually took a different route than OEM to save a few bucks, and other than telling me where the XM Module was, I was on my own on that. It was a bear. Would be easier a second time.
VERY happy with the results. Love the Android Auto, and did not realize the added bonus of a new free run on XM, so that was a plus.
Unlike some others, I highly prefer the OEM nav. Thus, I am a happy camper all around, and I would recommend to anyone.
On the 2015 upgrade, you would have to replace both boxes to get Apple Android stuff. A pretty hefty price to pay for that alone.
well crap... was hoping to skimp away on the cheap side lol. i'm having bluetooth issues as well wonder if i couldn't talk my local dealership into sneaking a 2.5 HMI and nav box in instead of the 2.0 or whatevers in it....
The video shows the GPS antenna going under the front driver's side speaker. Where should it go?
There is not an included antenna anymore, you get a splitter that uses the on-star factory GPS antenna. The on-star antenna is located under the dash on the passenger to the right just behind the glove box. Once the splitter is plugged in, you have to run a cable back to the HMI on the drivers side.

That seems to be a more logical way of doing it, sharing with the On-Star antenna. I wish that a splitter was included in mine when I got it a month ago so I didn't have to rip apart the "A" pillar lining when installing the antenna.

Did you have any problems I am having
1. Onstar GPS no longer works, error shows not communicating with HMI
2. Nav map is way off course shows me about mile from where I am at and also on the side, used antenna they supplied as could not use splitter as Onstar GPS not responding, Dealer says HMI and onstar not commmunicating, getting 2462 error
My onstar gps still not working, sonetimes when calling give location but other times says cant locate me. I put back the original HMI but did not help. Dealer says they also want to put back the original sirius and usb in console, if that does not fix it they will order new onstar module. From what I read I am the only one with this problem. Originally used splitter and that did not work, nav works with the separate gps antenna. Any ideas???

I returned mine and went back to original no nav. The nav, xm and android auto work great but it disabled my onstar, kept the red x on the screen for onstar. Could talk with them but the gps with onstar refused to work, they could not locate me and I could not get directions from them.
