C7 Coupe LT1 faster than C6 Z06??
My brother in law LOVES cars and for the time being knows more about my C7 than I do. Unfortunately he has never been able to get his dream car. He has driven a few semi-fast cars. At least cars he could really get down on. His knowledge base comes mostly from his love of fast cars. Always reading material he can find and watching plenty of videos and conversations with other who share his interest. Yesterday I put a smile on his face. It was priceless to say the least. I showed him my C7 and asked him if he wanted to take me a ride. He ask if he could "get down on it" My answer? Of course YES. Actually my answer was "its your license go ahead" After a times of him grinning from ear to ear and repeating "man you made my day? From his quick experience behind the wheel of my C7 yesterday and the knowledge he has gained from research over the years and take in to count cars are his #1 passion. So this brings us back to the title of this thread. He said many times while driving and watching the time-tach-speed that he firmly believes this C7 coupe is faster than the previous models Z06. Go ahead I know you have to take into account other mods and everything else. I am only starting a discussion to get some feedback and Im bored so shoot away. To answer the first question you all will ask."" has he ever driven an earlier model Z06" that answer in no. As far as I know he has never came close to driving anything as fast as my C7 coupe but read above to clarify where he does get his info. To also add a little more info about us I am 38 years old and brother in law is around 35-36 years old. One more thing. My insurance rates are though the roof and my license is almost F-ed from violations. I cannot drive the car hard/fast to bring any unwanted attention from PO-PO. So I had just as much fun as he did yesterday while he was racing around. I didn't even know the car had that in it. Corvette has made a car that goes way beyond my expectations.

Betting with a bit of searching you can find road tests for both cars and see recorded times and stats for each.
As mentioned above, the older Z06 would be faster, but at least you could determine by how much.

I took my buddies dad who is a current C6Z owner for a ride last month. He commented that he didn't expect it to feel so strong but his Z still pulled harder on the top end. The Z would walk a LT1 car pretty easily in a straight line.

3mph in the 1/4 mile and a few tenths, it is significantly faster and substantially lighter. But only the fast one can claim a tie on interior quality with a 2005 chevy tahoe.

I too have driven a C6 Z and now have a new stingray and on the short run I felt my 2016 was quicker. Don't know about top end but 1/4 mile it seemed quicker. I believe the brochere indicated the 2016 Z51 is capable of 119 MPH in a qtr. mile. Just did a veryquick Google search and looks like Z is around 123 MPH so is it a little quicker. It should be it has around 510 HP verses 460 on the stingray.

The C7 Z51 does a lot with the 460HP it has, but when the C6Z gets above 5000 RPM's you'd better hold on! The 7000 RPM red line comes on FAST.
(2008 ZO6, 2013 ZO6, Now 2015 Z51).

Z06 versus c7
I sold my c6 Z06 to get the c7 , The c7 is a much better car all around, but the Z06 is quicker no doubt about it.

A stock C7 will not be faster than a stock C6 Z06.
A modified C7 might beat a C6 Z06, C6 ZR1 and a C7 Z06
Those looks are priceless when the big boys get spanked at the track.

The look of defeat
That made me smile. Starting from the point in life when we start playing games it was all about the look on the losers face. Especially when the underdog wins. That look is priceless.

That's because the horsepower/torque curve are pretty close until around 4500 rpm, if my memory serves me right...

My C7 doesn't have that "hang on now" feel my former C6Z had from 4,000 r.p.m. - 7,000 r.p.m. I knew going in that 10% more mass, and 10% less horsepower would be at least 20% less exciting.
I sure don't miss the "let's go ride around inside a condom" interior of my former C6Z though.

I started a thread on this in the C7 forum and C6Z forum about a year ago. A stock A8 Stingray vs a stock C6Z crushes the C6Z on ... The street from a stop (dig) and low rolls 20-30 mph. Reason #1 is traction #2 the A8 can out shift the unprofessional driver by far. In my thread there are videos...

The 2 cars stock are realistically 4 to 5 tenths apart in the 1/4 mile. The C6 Z06 is 4 to 5 tenths quicker and about 6 miles per hour faster trap speed in the 1/4 mile. This reference is for a prepped 1/4 mile track, not the street.
On the street, the C7 manual hooks better and is easier to use all 460 hp versus much harder to hook the 505 hp Z06 on the street making it harder to use all the 505 horse. If you street race the two cars with OE tires, the C7 will probably win light to light or poll to poll if you know what I mean.

Let me help you fellow members out I bought into all the hype traded my 2012 Z06 for 2015 Z51 mn7. I hated the Z51 everyday I missed the omph of the 427. I traded my 15 z51 for a 16 2LZ Z06 now every time I mash the gas I smile I got the Omph but at a cost wife wanted A8 I hate it, but compromise got me a killer car again.
