Hi everyone looking for advice on window tint. Never had windows tinted before, they look cool for sure but I would like to see at night. Has anyone had a problem seeing at night with 35%
If you've never owned a car with tint before, I would suggest finding a friend with tint and ride in the evening to see what you think. In addition to the darkness, you will gain a little reflection from the interior lights. Not a bother typically, but worth noting if you've never had this before.
I've used 35% tint on all my cars for the last 20 years without even thinking about it, but I do wish I would have gone a bit lighter tint on the Stingray due to two things:
There is already a darker than typical factory tint that should be taken in to account as it adds up. 35% on the Stingray seems like a net tint of around 20-25% which is darker at night than I would prefer (although it's great in the daytime).
Note I have not measured this -- just compared to my BMW with the exact same ceramic tint installed by the same shop.
You cannot disable the auto tinting on the rearview mirror and the driver's side mirror. Since these mirrors dim on their own + your window tint, it is a much darker view than normal (nor one that I would prefer).
I realize I'm in the minority, and maybe my 40-something eyes are becoming weaker in the dark, but I wish I would have gone a lighter ceramic for the heat blocking, but retained better visibility.

Reason: typo
Dealer had tinted mine at 5% sides and rear. I had to roll down the side window to see traffic islands and curbs when turning at night. When I went for inspection and license in TX and failed inspection. Max tint allowed on front side windows is 25% in TX. Had to have side windows scraped and retinted at 25%. Cost me $120 but I can see at night when turning. 5% on rear makes it hard to see out of self dimming mirror.
Meant to mention this before but these newer tint technologies (like ceramic) don't look as dark as the dyed tints of yesteryear. These higher quality tints will also cost you significantly more to have done. $300-500 vs $100-200. This makes it less risky to go darker and has more upsides (like night visibility).
