Default Tire Question

Happy Friday CF!

Quick question for you. I just realized I had a screw in my tire. It was pretty much in the center of the tread, the tire was holding air just fine, and I wouldn't have noticed it if I wasn't taking some photos.

I took it to have it fixed and was told, "Nope, it's a run flat, you can't fix a run flat." I explained how I wasn't even sure if the screw went all the way through and they said, "run flats can't be plugged or patched." To say the least I was a little pissed. I've been reading on the forum since 2008 about run flats and it's my understanding, if the tire was never driven with low air aka on the side walls, and the puncture is in the center of the thread, you can do at least one patch or plug.

Am I loosing my mind? Did I tell the guys off when maybe I shouldn't have? I really thought they were trying to sell me a tire without looking at my car. I ended up not having them look at it and pulled the screw out myself. I don't think it went through the tire but it did leave a little hole.

Thanks

It looks like it was too short to cause a puncture. And yes, if it did cause a puncture it was in an acceptable place to plug/patch.
