When I plug the ipod into the usb, the ipod freezes on the present song and I have to operate the ipod (choosing songs etc) from the car screen...I am sure last season I ran the system right from the ipod...any ideas or did I just push a wrong button someplace
I have issues with my Classic and Nano. Sometimes they don't get recognized by the stereo and I have to reboot the iPod.
I have to try an iPod touch.
I still have to occasionally reboot my touch as well by disconnecting the cable and reconnecting. It's an annoyance but it plays all my music and allows me to search by album, artist, playlist, genre, etc.
I had problems with my less than a year old IPod with my '16 C7. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. So...
Loaded much of my music library on a USB stick, and works great. A few tricks to get the USB loaded properly, but easy to do. Plug it in and leave it. IPod always available for home and patio use. Don't have to remember I left it in the Corvette.
My experience with my C7, IPod 50/50. USB stick = Golden.
When Apple rolls out a firmware update it sometimes screws up its integration with car systems. A couple of years ago when Apple introduced iOS8, the Podcast app would no longer work in my BMW until a year later when BMW finally updated its system firmware. But then Apple went to iOS9 and text messaging would no longer work... so you get the picture, car manufacturers just can't keep up the pace with companies like Apple and Google so things are never going to be perfect.
Woodson has the best solution. Make folders on flash drive and copy the music to them. Name folders by artist or genre, or whatever snaps your strap. Works terrific. If you haven't tried it, you'll like it.
Problems should only worsen over the next few years as Apple quit mfg all Ipods a couple of years ago.
Huh??? They sell and upgrade their Ipod Touch, Nano, and Shuffle every year. The Touch is especially popular with Children, and the Nano and Shuffle is still purchased all the time by joggers and people who don't want to run down the battery on their phones.
thanks, I stand corrected---but problem will still worsen trying to use that device to play a song and drive a car. But good news for Ipod classic & other early generation Ipods, most in good condition can fetch several hundred or even several thousand dollars on ebay.
My iPod classic was extremely buggy in my C7- froze all the time, took forever to load playlists, wasn't recognized until 3+ minutes after turning on the ignition, etc
Recently made the switch to a 128 GB thumbdrive for $30 on Amazon. Wish I had done this a YEAR ago. Such a dramatic difference. Loads super fast and no glitches!!

Do you even know what you're talking about????
It runs through the head unit and can be voice accessed.
